Director de Prevención del Fraude y Gobierno Operacional

 

Purpose

Lead and supervise the Fraud Prevention Center and Operational Governance in Peru and ensure business strategies, plans and initiatives are carried out or are complied with in accordance with current internal rules, policies, regulatory requirements, and procedures.

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee digital identity verification architecture, synthetic identity detection, and deepfake/injection attack awareness.
  • Coordinate cyber-fraud convergence and collaborate with IT/CSIRT/CISO for integrated response.
  • Lead use and governance of AI in fraud detection, managing model drift, bias, and enabling automated triage.
  • Build deep regulatory and law enforcement relationships, representing the institution in industry associations and intelligence sharing.
  • •Lead and manage a customer-centric culture for the entire team in order to deepen customer relationships and to capitalize on the Bank’s broad relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Implement a solid fraud analysis, oversight and prevention structure in all channels where the group provides services.
  • Provide advice to the Bank’s senior management and business lines in the evaluation and management of fraud events to ensure proper decision-making.
  • Lead the design, development, implementation and maintenance of fraud prevention strategies, programs and educational campaigns in order to reduce the exposure of the Bank and the group and to minimize losses caused by criminal activities.
  • Lead the monitoring, analysis and reporting of fraudulent activities throughout the group, through continuous detection activities, analysis of information from different sources to identify trends and events, and provision of management reports.
  • Maintain awareness between business units on operational and regulatory risk frameworks, programs and tools established by the 2nd Line, and related local regulations.
  • Ensure business units receive appropriate training on operational and regulatory risk frameworks, programs, and tools.
  • Ensure the documentation of local processes and procedures to implement the framework for the operational and regulatory program, programs and methodologies established by the 2nd Line, in accordance with the regulations in force.
  • Lead and ensure the implementation of the Operational Risk Framework aligned with Operational Risk Processes and Procedures for International Banking:

 

    • Risk and control self-assessment.
    • Business Environment and Establishment of Internal Control Factors (BEICF).
    • Loss data management.(identification & reporting)
    • Key risk indicators management. (develop, monitor and report)
    • Establishment of appetite for operational risk.
    • Scenario Analysis (review/ analyze and attend workshops).
    • New Risk Management Products and Services (including new initiatives related to important changes as as part of local regulatory requirements).
    • Operational Risk Committee.

 

  • Ensure that risk and control self-assessment reports are prepared and signed by the management of business units on a timely and complete basis.
  • Supervise the appropriate management of Foreign Trade transactions which may be approved by the person responsible for Trade Finance Risk Control.
  • Monitoring and supervising action plans related to RCSA/Risk Matrix and Audit Issues in order to mitigate operational risks that are not aligned with the Operational Risk Appetite set by the Board. 
  • Create an environment where your team performs effective and efficient operations in their respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, compliance and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls in order to comply with obligations to reduce operational risk, the risk of regulatory noncompliance, the risk of money laundering, prevention fraud and terrorist financing and the risk of conduct, which includes the responsibilities established under the Operational Risk Management Framework, the Regulatory Non-Compliance Risk Management Framework, the International Handbook on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Understand the Bank’s risk culture and how risk appetite should be considered in daily activities and decisions.
  • Participate in the local Operational Risk Committee, submitting relevant information on internal and external operational risks.
  • Develop and maintain a network of external contacts and participate in industry committees in order to be up to date with emerging operational risk and fraud trends, standards and best practices and with regulatory requirements.

 

Knowledge

  • Fluency in AI for fraud operations, including defensive applications and ethical/bias management.
  • Deep knowledge of threat landscape: payments fraud, ATO/SIM swap, deepfakes, synthetic identities, and emerging vectors in the Peruvian market.
  • Expertise in regulatory context (Peru) regarding fraud reporting, data privacy, consumer protection, Open Banking and emerging AI regulations.
  • Proficiency in fraud detection platforms (Feedzai, Actimize, SAS, etc.) and real-time architectures.
  • Understanding of digital identity ecosystems (RENIEC/DNI), device intelligence, liveness, and biometric verification pipelines.
  • Desirable Training: University studies concluded in Administration, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering or related degree. Master’s Degree in Administration or related.
  • Specialized studies on Risk Management
  • Minimum experience: 10 years in similar positions in other institutions or supervision in related positions.
  • Advanced knowledge in data analysis tools and In-depth knowledge on operational risk, regulatory risk, regulatory requirements and internal control principles.
  • Knowledge on international standards for the management of financial and non financial risks, with emphasis on operational risk, as well as knowledge on the legal provisions and regulatory environment that controls this type of risk.
  • Experience in lines of business of International Banking and treatment with different cultures.
  • Ability to coordinate with geographically dispersed teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of banking operations, credit and debit card operations and Bantotal Platform.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office tools.
  • English – Advanced.
