About the Opportunity:

 

As an Agriculture Specialist, you will play a key role in the success of the Agricultural segment within Business Banking by driving profitable growth, building strong client relationships, and delivering tailored financial solutions to agriculture businesses across your assigned territory.

 

You will contribute to business objectives by executing sales strategies, developing new business opportunities, and ensuring all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

 

This role focuses on the profitable sale of both credit and non-credit products to agriculture customers and prospects while developing an extensive network of referral sources through strategic community involvement and industry engagement. You will be responsible for growing and managing high-value client borrowing relationships, typically ranging from $1MM to $3MM, while helping agriculture businesses achieve their goals through customized financial solutions.

 

How You Will Make an Impact:

 

  • Proactively identify, acquire, and develop relationships with agriculture prospects, high-value small business clients, and Centres of Influence (COIs) within your territory.
  • Achieve new customer acquisition targets through strategic business development and relationship-building activities.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with Retail Banking, Commercial Banking, Agriculture Account Managers, and Wealth partners to deliver a coordinated and seamless client experience.
  • Expand Scotiabank's presence in the agriculture community through active participation in industry events, local agricultural organizations, and community initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local farmers, agricultural businesses, referral partners, and industry associations.
  • Manage and grow an assigned portfolio of agriculture clients while supporting ongoing market development activities.
  • Conduct annual reviews and provide proactive service and advice to assigned clients.
  • Understand the unique needs of agriculture businesses and align products, sales strategies, and risk policies to deliver customized solutions.
  • Provide expert guidance and responsive service related to business accounts, operating services, deposits, lending solutions, and credit facilities.
  • Support clients in achieving their business goals through a consultative and relationship-focused approach.

  • Strong relationship management and networking skills, particularly within the agriculture community.
  • Knowledge of agriculture businesses, operations, challenges, and market dynamics.
  • Experience providing financial advice and solutions to business clients.

  • Ability to manage a portfolio of clients while balancing business development and service responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently within an assigned territory.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional client experiences and building long-term relationships.

 

Nice to Have

 

  • Previous experience in agriculture banking, business banking, commercial banking, or agricultural lending.
  • Established network within the local agriculture industry.
  • Experience working with agricultural producers, agribusinesses, and related organizations.
  • Knowledge of agriculture lending products, credit analysis, and risk management practices.
  • Post-secondary education in Agriculture, Business, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Experience participating in industry associations and community leadership activities.
