Purpose: Responsible for overseeing and leading Payroll delivery team in the execution of all activities related to payroll and time processes, ensuring compliance with the Bank’s policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. This role collaborates with HR Operations, Total Rewards COE, Finance, Tax, Legal, External Vendors, and other business areas to drive continuous improvement in payroll and post payroll processes and delivery.

 


What You’ll Do

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
  • Oversees the execution of all activities related to payroll, Time, and year-end processes, ensuring compliance with standards and legislative requirements
  • Performs post-payroll processes of reconciliation, invoicing, and monitoring to ensure all expenses and liabilities are executed and delivered accurately and timely  
  • Partners with HR Operations Team, Total Rewards COE, Finance, Tax, Legal, External Vendors, and other relevant groups to identify and implement solutions to improve/enhance payroll delivery
  • Coaches Payroll team providing leadership, guidance, and prioritization for all deliverables
  • Holds self and team accountable for ensuring the accurate administration, remittance and reporting of payroll related activities in compliance with relevant employment standards and legislations
  • Collaborates with the Benefits team in the execution and application of the employee benefits within ADP; while collectively managing the Vendor relationships
  • Monitors and ensures the accurate and timely administration, remittance, and reporting of payroll related activities
  • Manages external and internal (SOX) regulatory governance, controls, and requirements
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on all aspects of payroll, resolves escalated or high risk issues or concerns as required
  • Actively seeks opportunities for continuous improvement within the team and broader HR Ops function, with a focus on transferring learnings and opportunities across the department and leveraging other solutions to enhance efficiency
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations within his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance. Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct
  • Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vision/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team

 

What You’ll Bring 

  • Post-secondary Degree in Accounting or Business or related field
  • CPP designation desirable
  • Significant experience in payroll
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of Bank policies and procedures
  • Accounting principles and practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Attentive to details and deadlines; ability to manage multiple initiatives
  • Must exhibit good judgment and authority, along with skills to provide solutions and expertise  
  • Proven supervisory/leadership experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Advance knowledge of Excel
  • ADP Workforce Now proficiency required
