Responsible for technical evaluation of client oil & gas assets and assisting in execution of mandates and development of new business activities.


Key Accountability:


  • Technical evaluation of client oil and gas assets.
  • Writing of technical portion of the data room presentation and other marketing material with specific focus on:
  • Base case supported by client provided data
  • Upside case, based on technical evaluation of assets
  • Attending internal and external project meetings with clients
  • Preparation of virtual data rooms based on data supplied by client
  • Marketing of oil and gas assets to potential buyers as required including:
  • Contribution to presentations to buyers
  • Following up on Q&A from buyers
  • Presenting technical material in the data room
  • Contribution to economic evaluations, where applicable
  • Assist with miscellaneous technical project related duties as required
  • Assist in writing of technical portions of pitch books
  • Attend pitch meetings as required and present technical approach, evaluation
  • Contribute to generation of business development ideas
  • Contribute to portfolio analysis
  • Network with industry contacts to stay on top of emerging trends
  • High level of technical oil and gas geology understanding and application
  • Strong understanding of geophysics and workstation experience
  • Ability to identify upside and risk for oil and gas assets
  • Computer skills: Microsoft office, data bases and other technical oil and gas software such as Petra
  • High level of discretion dealing with confidential matters
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to set priorities
  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to work overtime as required


Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology required, preferably with a petroleum specialty, or equivalent combination with work experience
  • Master’s degree in Geoscience would be an asset
  • 5+ years experience working in geology in the oil and gas industry with operations experience
  • Broad technical oil and gas geology experience (reservoir types, recovery techniques and technological advances)
  • Basic understanding of production and reserves, drilling and completions, and land
  • Exposure to economic evaluation (net present value) and fiscal regimes
  • Beneficial to have exposure to oil and gas acquisitions & divestitures activity, agreements and commercial aspects of the oil and gas industry
  • Beneficial to have exposure/experience and a good understanding of U.S. unconventional resources, and/or offshore GOM
  • International experience is a benefit
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft office products and technical oil and gas software
