TITLE: Associate Director, Corporate Banking
DUTIES: The Bank of Nova Scotia seeks Associate Director, Corporate Banking in Houston, TX to demonstrate strong business acumen by assisting with client relationship management. Address US Energy (spanning upstream, midstream, downstream, oilfield services, and chemicals industries) client inquiries and requirements. Establish and maintain an effective network of internal and external contacts. Participate in client meetings along with the Relationship Manager. Occasionally attend client meetings without the supervision of the Relationship Manager. Complete post-meeting follow up, including preparation of call reports (Salesforce) and follow up material that may be required as a result of information discussed during client calls. Contribute to cross-sell activities including across Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Foreign Exchange, Derivatives Products Group, Commodities, Global Transaction Banking, and Sustainable Finance. Complete deal review memos to pitch new business ideas to senior management, including opportunities such as new or increased lending facilities, acquisition financing pitches, trading opportunities (commodities, IRS). Analyze material associated with new and existing client/prospect opportunities, including profitability returns analysis, deal due diligence, and legal documentation review. Take leadership for responsibility from an execution standpoint of account management and internal credit presentations (including completing client and industry due diligence) and loan documentation review (Credit Agreements, ISDA’s, Reimbursement Agreements). Review work product of junior team members and provides value add commentary to develop talent. Coach, mentor, train, and guide junior talent including new analysts and associates.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Business, Finance, Economics or equivalent and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or related occupation: performing financial modelling and utilizing accounting knowledge to perform financial analysis of lending clients and determine credit metrics / prospective loans potential for repayment within loan maturity timeframe; utilizing credit legal documentation including Credit Agreements, Reimbursement Agreements, and ISDAs to summarize credit terms and understand subordination/Event of Default considerations; utilizing MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint to develop, prepare, and present pitch materials for internal and external initiatives; utilizing experience with financial markets and economic; working with types of debt, present and future value, project finance, and leveraged finance; and interepreting resevoir/production engineering report. 10% travel required nationally/internationally.
