Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Domestic and International A&D team within the Global Investment Banking – Energy Division located in Houston, TX USA. Ensures specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
What You’ll Do
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Engineering support role for Houston Domestic and International A&D team, focused on execution of upstream and midstream oil and gas pitches, live mandates and ad hoc technical requests.
- Create, manage and maintain ARIES / PHDwin databases related to advisory mandates and any related pitch work in an accurate and timely manner.
- Run database sensitives as required by clients / senior bankers and provide timely and accurate outputs to the rest of the team.
- Support ad hoc analysis and requests by pulling third party (Enverus, Wood Mackenzie, Welligence) data using Spotfire or other proprietary tools to assist with evaluations and any related client / senior banker request.
- Continuously develop new tools that enhance database related efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide colleagues / customers with troubleshooting issues and closing any knowledge gaps with engineering database management software.
- Contribute to engineering portions of management presentations and pitch materials, including assisting with slide preparation and engineering analysis with senior engineering oversight
- Maintain working knowledge of oil and gas industry trends, commodity prices, and latest developments in technology
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You’ll Bring
• University/College degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics or related discipline;
• 2-5 years of experience working in engineering related roles with preference for oil and gas experience
• Expert knowledge of ARIES and/or PHDwin is a requirement
• Strong knowledge of third-party support products (e.g. Enverus Prism, Wood Mackenzie Welligence)
• Beneficial to have exposure to oil and gas acquisitions and divestiture activity in a prior role
• Exposure to economic evaluation (net present value), fiscal regimes, SEC Reserves
• Proven ability to work concurrently across multiple tasks / activities primarily related to oil and gas asset / corporate evaluations
• Strong knowledge of Spotfire and/or other data analytics programs;
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft office products and technical oil and gas software;
