Manager, Credit/Automotive Finance/Canadian Banking - 18 month contract

 

Purpose

 

Manager, Credit - Retail Lending leaders and oversees the DFC Retail lending department in Canada ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed/delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

The incumbent is responsible for, human resource management and operational effectiveness objectives. They provide leadership and guidance to the DFC delivery network in a manner consistent with the overall Canadian Bank strategy of developing and leading a customer-focused culture.  This includes a primary responsibility for leading, managing, coaching and training others by focusing on Retail Lending disciplines.

 

Accountabilities

 

  1. Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to day activities and decisions
  2. Manage DFC lending activities and practices to high standards of credit quality to ensure Indirect Retail and lease delinquencies and amounts WOR are within acceptable levels for the DFC unit as measured by the Bank’s internal delinquency and WOR standards.
  3. Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank Relationships, systems and knowledge.
  4. Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  5. Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motives their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vision/values/business strategy; and managing success and development planning for the team.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Number of employees 10-15 direct reports on average
  •  Expert knowledge of the industry lines the DFC is servicing (Automotive)
  • Expert knowledge of all retail lending indirect and retail leasing products as well as solid knowledge of other retail products which may meet customer needs
  • Proven ability to make sound credit decisions,
  • Effective communication to skilfully manage many automotive dealership clients,
  • Strength in ability to negotiate/mediate between multiple groups including high volume referral sources with potential for conflicting priorities/sense of urgency,
  • Effective interpersonal and management skills,
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills,
  • Proven judgement in assessing priorities,
  • Proficient in using the Bank’s ALS COM Retail Indirect Loan and Lease adjudication system.
  • Working knowledge of personal computer programs such as Microsoft office and Outlook
