Title:  Director, Operational Integrations

Contributes to the overall success of the Global Corporate Functions in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Within Global Corporate Functions, the team is comprised of the creators, implementers, and maintainers of the technology that forms the bank's operational spine.

 

The Director, Operational Integrations, provides strategic direction and oversight for all operational integration activities across the enterprise. This role is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive integration strategy, ensuring the seamless consolidation of systems, processes, and technologies following major corporate initiatives. The Director will lead a team to manage complex, large-scale integration projects from conception through to implementation, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet business objectives. A key mandate of this position is to foster collaboration between business units and technology partners, manage stakeholder relationships at all levels, and mitigate risks to ensure a smooth transition and operational stability.

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Directs and provides expert oversight on complex systems integration strategies to ensure seamless connectivity and functionality across the enterprise.
  • Provides senior guidance on the integration of GCF systems and technology stack with the Enterprise Data and AI platform ensuring scalability, performance, and security. Special emphasis on the tight integration of Risk and Finance Systems.
  • Develops and executes long-term strategic goals for operational integration aligned with business objectives.
  • Collaborates closely with the cloud systems engineering team, guiding GCF staff in building and maintaining robust and efficient applications on centrally provisioned cloud infrastructure.
  • Defines and governs the application integration architecture, establishing standards and best practices for connecting disparate applications.
  • Leads the strategy for Application Programming Interface (API) specification and engineering, ensuring they are well-designed, secure, and scalable.
  • Applies a comprehensive understanding of operational risk management principles to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with operational integration projects.
  • Maintains a strong working knowledge of finance systems / technology to ensure integration activities align with financial processes and reporting requirements.
  • Incorporates an understanding of fraud detection and prevention systems stack into the design and integration of operational systems.
  • Ensures integration solutions account for Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations and support relevant monitoring and reporting functions.
  • Understands regulatory reporting requirements to ensure integrated systems can produce accurate and timely regulatory reports for submission.
  • Drives and manages large-scale strategic integration initiatives to meet corporate objectives.
  • Manages key relationships and collaborates with cross-functional teams, senior leadership, and external stakeholders to drive integration initiatives.
  • Manages departmental budgets, resource allocation, and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effectiveness and service quality.
  • Articulates complex integration strategies and technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences, including senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • A post-secondary degree in a related field is required, though no specific designation is mandatory.
  • Extensive experience in the banking or financial services industry is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in operational processes, systems integration, and technology within a large-scale corporate environment.
  • Possesses a strong understanding of the regulatory and compliance landscape, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML), fraud, and regulatory reporting requirements.
