Purpose 

Contributes to the overall success of the Accounting and Administration Department in Guangzhou, China ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Accountabilities

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Acquire a general knowledge of one or more of the operating units in the accounting functions, which include: internal systems, financial reporting, processing of operating expenses, reconciliation, etc.
    • Ensuring certain bank accounts as assigned are reconciled on daily basis.
    • Ensuring the accuracy of processing, posting and maintenance of daily transactions originated by customers and management.
    • Preparing routine payment related to operational office expenses pertaining to the branch.
    • Preparing and filing the returns and reports for Guangzhou branch as well as the consolidated financial statements for China Units in compliance with local regulatory requirement, such as, PBOC (People’s Bank of China); NFRA (National Financial Regulation Administration); SAFE (The state Administration of Foreign Exchange); State Tax Authority.
    • Preparing and filing the reports as required by internal reporting and in compliance with the bank polices and regulations.
    • Assisting Accounting Analyst / Assistant manager in handling branch's administration and operations matter. And adhere to established bank regulations and procedures with respect to perform.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of bank and customer information. Perform other duties as assigned. 
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Other Information

  • The incumbent needs to possess good knowledge of accounting and local payment procedures; as well as the knowledge of bank policies and procedures relating to finance.
  • The incumbent requires good knowledge on the local regulator reporting, including NFRA reports, PBOC financial reports, SAFE FAL reports and the tax authorities reports.
  • The incumbent needs to learn and maintain a good working knowledge of our BM+, PSGL, GLOSS, TLM and other internal systems. Based on the source files generated from the internal system. The incumbent requires to prepare the report upon request.
  • The incumbent requires good communication skills with colleagues. The incumbent should be flexible in a constantly changing environment (procedural and automated system changes).
  • The incumbent needs to be capable of working independently in high pressure environment, initiative and organizational abilities are required to deal with day-to-day duties.
