Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the GWO team in China Branches ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Accountabilities

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

 

Specific role accountability:

  • Provide service to the Front Office that is consistent with established and prescribed standards by:

-Taking full responsibility for assigned customer enquiries, concerns and complaints by resolving those matters within assigned time frames and standards;

-Maintaining the confidentiality of customer information;

-Preparing general correspondence relative to customer/outside enquires.

  • Maintain strict adherence to security procedures by:

-Maintaining all negotiable items, stamps, keys and combinations consigned to custody in accordance with  Banking regulations and within assigned limits;

-Adhering to established Banking regulations and procedures within assigned authority and responsibility.Reporting any unusual occurrences or fraudulent activity to the supervisor.

  • Responsible for day-to-day smooth functioning of China branches and users equipment include server / computer hardware & software, network infrastructure, voice system.
  • Escalates all high priority issues affecting availability, customer impact and user impact to the GBME.
  • Participate and co-ordinate with various departments in the testing, implementation and change control procedures of new release for the bank and local systems.
  • Troubleshoot any system component and communication failure. Liaison with vendor and regional office / head office, when necessary, on resolving the problem. Liaison with vendor for new installation or cancellation of services.
  • Pay a key coordinate role of China team between local vendors and APAC/EO GBME team to ensure the source data can be fed into the local regulator reporting system on time with accuracy.
  • Responsible to run the local reporting system (Riking) daily copy script on time.
  • Responsible to prepare all local system UAT/PROD documents and provide the guidance to APAC GBME team to implement the system change in UAT/PROD environment.
  • Take the lead to arrange the annual DR drill of different local regulator reporting system.
  • Responsible to provide the technical support of the China branch’s office physical access control, and the bank systems/share folder/LAM system access control.
  • Provide relevant and effective user support. Assist all levels of user in usage of Office Automation Tools (MS Office, etc). Also, provide application support and technical support for all users.
  • Participate and coordinate with internal/external auditors in relate to audit matters; auditing information gathering, and implementation of actions recommended through audit findings.
  • Responsible in the preparation of the annual IT budgeting and expenditure monitoring.
  • Assist Senior Manager – Operations to build up the branch’s BCP strategy and pandemic plan, ensuring the periodically checking and updating are in good order;
  • Ensure procedures are in place and documented properly for regional desktop support purposes.
  • Assist Senior Manager - Operations to manage the assigned projects in the branch.
  • Performing other related duties and backup roles to other positions as assigned.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)

  • The incumbent requires a thorough knowledge and understanding of all basic IT support procedures, therefore requiring a more seasoned employee. In addition, he/she requires a working knowledge of banking products and services and a general knowledge of commercial services.
  • Good organizational ability is required to effectively assist/train personnel and deal with different counterparties. He/she must be flexible in a constantly changing environment (procedural and automated systems). The incumbent frequently interacts with different internal and external counterparties.
  • The incumbent must learn and maintain a good working knowledge of our Bankmaster plus, O’Charlie, WSS MM, PSGL, Bankreg, CNAPS, Riking and SWIFT Payment Systems and other local reporting systems.
  • A clear and detailed comprehension of the structure of the various local reporting system setup and how they are required to be applied is necessary.
  • The staff requires a solid knowledge on the Information security and IT Compliance.
  • The incumbent must be capable working independently in a high-pressure environment, initiative and organizational abilities are required to deal with day-to-day duties.
