Position & Team Overview/Highlights:

 

Senior Manager, Operational Risk and Operational Resilience will lead the design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of the firm’s operational risk management and operational resilience frameworks. This role ensures alignment with CBI regulatory expectations and the firm’s Risk Appetite Framework.

In this role the candidate is expected to support other areas of Enterprise Risk including but not limited to Governance, Reporting, Risk Identification, Assessment, Mitigation, Monitoring and Regulatory Compliance.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead SIDAC-wide operational risk framework, including risk identification, conduct independent analysis and challenge the outcome of Operational Risk Management tools – Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), Scenario Analysis, Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Risk Exceptions and New Initiative Risk Assessment (NIRA’s).
  • Notwithstanding the focus of the position on Operational Risk Management, the role will call for involvement in all other aspects of Enterprise Risk Management as required.
  • Work closely with Operational Risk team in London to coordinate operational risk activities across the two jurisdictions ensuring alignment and effective use of resources. Similarly ensure alignment with BNS Toronto Global Operational Risk teams and BNS Enterprise methodologies.
  • Review and challenge Operational Risk Events (OREs) as reported by the business lines and Corporate Function groups.
  • Communicate/escalate/report on material operational risks, including against established thresholds and operational risk appetite, where appropriate.
  • Develop operational risk reports for SIDAC Operational Risk Committee, Ex-Co, Board Risk Committee and Central Bank of Ireland.
  • Conduct review, assessment and enhancement of SIDAC’s operational risk management tools and methodologies.

 

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • University degree in a finance related or engineering field, solid progressive experience in the financial services industry. Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Should have a breadth of experience in risk management, capital markets or related areas.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills to deal with senior levels of management.
  • Possess strong communication (verbal and written), listening, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Experience with IBM OpenPages would be an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory landscape
