Associate Director, Business Risk Management, Global Banking & Markets, Scotia Bank (Ireland) DAC – Dublin based.

Position & Team Overview/Highlights: 
This is a high-impact, first line of defence role within Scotiabank’s Global Banking & Markets (GBM) Business Risk Management (BRM) team, based in Ireland. As Associate Director, you’ll be at the forefront of proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating non-financial risks across GBM businesses helping protect the Bank and enabling it to grow safely.
You’ll lead the delivery of key operational risk programs and control initiatives, working across complex product areas including Capital Markets (fixed income, derivatives, equities, FX, commodities), Corporate Banking, Treasury, and Global Wholesale Operations. Operating in a highly regulated environment, you’ll be a trusted partner to senior stakeholders and control functions, driving a strong risk culture and championing Scotiabank’s Scotiabond Values of integrity, respect, accountability, and inclusion.
This role is global in scope, offering the opportunity to collaborate with teams across London, Bogota, Toronto, and other key markets bringing a global mindset to local execution. 

 

What You’ll Do:
Lead and oversee key components of the of the Global BRM mandate including:
•    Lead Operational Risk Programs: Deliver a suite of risk assessments including RCSAs, operational risk event investigations, scenario analysis, and control evaluations. Drive governance and reporting to ensure risks are managed within appetite.
•    Stakeholder Engagement: Actively partner with business leaders, control functions, and subject matter experts to assess threats, impacts, and mitigation strategies. Provide insights that shape decision-making and strengthen controls.
•    Supervision & Oversight: Implement first line supervision frameworks including trader/sales authorizations, Volcker reviews, and communication surveillance. Escalate breaches and support regulatory engagement.
•    New Business & Change Management: Support the Director in managing new initiatives, coordinating risk assessments, and ensuring operational readiness across SIDAC. Act as secretariat for the New Initiative Approval Committee.
•    Global Collaboration: Work closely with global BRM teams to align and execute risk mandates. Engage with regional offices and centralized oversight teams to ensure consistency and effectiveness

What You’ll Bring:
•    A can-do attitude with a focus on delivery/execution whilst being a considerate team player. 
•    Relevant business risk experience along with operating in a complex, global bank. 
•    Strong communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills. 
•    Vigorous leadership, with demonstrated ability to lead diverse tasks. 
•    Solid knowledge of securities/banking rules, regulations, by-laws, policies, and procedures.
