Our Europe operations are located in London and Dublin and are part of our Global Banking & Markets (GBM) business. GBM provides a full range of investment banking, credit and risk management products and services relevant to the financing and strategic development needs of our clients.
Our products include debt and equity financing, mergers & acquisitions, corporate banking, institutional equity sales, trading and research, fixed income products, derivatives, energy, foreign exchange, and precious metals. We also cross-sell the full range of wholesale products and services offered by the Scotiabank Group.
Programme Overview:
Scotiabank offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands on experience within the Group Treasury team commencing in June 2026.
This 10-week programme is designed for penultimate year students and offers experience across multiple financial market products providing the opportunity gain insight into the daily workings of the following areas:
- Liquidity Management
- Unsecured funding
- Secured funding
- Fixed income / credit portfolio management using bond and derivative positions
- Management of nostro account and daily cash positions using foreign exchange (FX) spot and forward positions
- Balance sheet management:
- Interest rate risk management using interest rate swaps (IRS)
- Funds transfer pricing (FTP)
- Net interest margin (NIM) / Net interest income (NII) forecasting and management
- Primary/Secondary fixed income investments
What You Can Expect:
- Work closely with key internal stakeholders, i.e. Global Capital Markets (Sales & Trading) and Debt Capital Markets, Market & Liquidity Risk (TFRM) Management, Finance and Operations to develop a strong understanding of financial markets and products, with the opportunity to apply knowledge to real world situations
- Shadowing dealers to learn risk management techniques and develop key deal execution skills
- Completing projects set by the team which includes preparing market commentary, understanding the balance sheet and it risks, and other ad hoc tasks
- Opportunity to present to leaders within Group Treasury on a project of choice demonstrating an understanding of a theme/topic that the intern has an affinity for
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
- Complete an intern project assignment and present it to the wider team.

- A weekly speaker series with leaders from across the Bank
- Peer to peer intern presentations

- A CSR project that supports one of our charity partners
Who We're Looking For:
- You are a penultimate year undergraduate student graduating in 2027
- You have a demonstrated interest in and knowledge of the financial markets
- You have strong MS office skills, e.g. advanced MS Excel, and can practically apply these to solve problems
- You have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment
- You have the ability to overcome challenges presented by a constantly changing work environment
- You are eligible to work in Ireland
