Purpose
Leads and oversees the GBM&T Compliance Learning function globally, ensuring strategies and initiatives related to the Global Compliance Learning Program for the Global Banking & Markets and Group Treasury business are executed in compliance with regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
What You'll Do
• Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Develops, enhances, and implements a holistic training and education program across GBM&T to cover key Compliance risks, including the Swap Dealer, FCM, and US Compliance programs.
• Collaborates with various stakeholders to draft, execute, and periodically review annual Compliance training and education plans, and manage periodic training need assessments.
• Works with the Global Compliance Learning & Development team to design, launch, and track various training programs.
• Delivers targeted in-person/virtual training to various employee groups, including new hire orientation (US only), while providing strategic input into the broader new hire onboarding process.
• Enhances management reporting to provide clear statistics and updates on training completion and delinquencies, identify trends, and provide subject matter expertise on the latest developments in learning.
• Prepares management information reports, presentations, and other materials to support updates at management committee meetings or regulatory responses.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
• Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.
What You'll Bring
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in training and education, particularly within financial services or related industries, is required.
• Knowledge of relevant rules, regulations, and laws is advantageous.
• Experience with Learning Management Systems (such as Success Factors) or learning design tools (such as Articulate) is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is mandatory.
• Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet stringent deadlines.
• Self-motivation, excellent organizational abilities, and strong interpersonal skills are required.
• A College Degree is required.
