Purpose

 

Scotiabank’s Global Technology Enterprise Platform (GTEP) – Global Network Engineering (GNE) mandate is to focus on delivering a voice and data network that is highly available, resilient, and enables Scotiabank businesses to operate globally without barriers, under the banner of “One Network, One Bank.” This includes the delivery of solutions that are cost effective, meet business needs, can scale seamlessly, and are secure.

As the Campus and Branch arm for the Bank, there is a primary focus on providing end to end connectivity and solutioning for our Global Bank technology across all regions and business partners servicing data centre, campus and remote branches.  Where the focus will be on the US Operations.

 

What You'll Do

 

You will play a critical part in the deployment, and operation of Scotiabank’s US network services as it pertains to Voice & Network, Security and WAN technologies. You will work with technical and business subject matter experts on various projects with focus on security and network segmentations in which your role will be both remote and in office working environment. Through the various projects and day to day operations will ultimately meet the requirements of the business in deploying a new infrastructure, technology and security compliance items. This will be inline with Bank and divisional standards, best practices, roadmaps and sustained support structures while meeting business goals and considering technology trends.

You will serve as the primary technical lead for US networking services with responsibility for engineering, supporting and continuously improving WIFI, LAN, WAN, Voice Telephony and Network Segmentation across all US offices and their connectivity back to global Data Centres. This role is central to advancing the Bank’s tactical and strategic segmentation programs, especially WAN, VPN and IoT segmentation workstreams documented in the US segmentation initiatives.

You will work closely with Canadian and global teams to ensure a secure, resilient, and scalable network foundation in line with GTEP standards and audit/regulatory requirements reflected in US segmentation activities 


Key Responsibilities:
•    Design, implement, and optimize enterprises WiFi and campus network solutions . 
•    Engineer and support robust LAN architectures, VLAN design, switch deployments and local office integrations. 
•    Lead WAN connectivity engineering between US sites and Data Centres, including routing, failover, QoS, and bandwidth optimization 
•    Implement and support WAN ACL approaches used for US Geo-segmentation (e.g. country based access restrictions and whitelist/blacklist models)
•    Lead deployment of US segmentation strategy WAN, VPN, IoT, including ACL planning, testing, and rollout.
•    Own segmentation configuration for WiFi/LAN networks in US locations, including VLAN restructuring and switch-port ACL deployment
•    Support audit-driven segmentation initiatives, working with Security Architecture and audit teams to meet control requirements 
•    Maintain documentation and ensure alignment with enterprise-wide segmentation frameworks 
•    Design and maintain reliable, secure, low-latency connectivity between US offices and Global Data Centers. 
•    Troubleshoot cross-border routing issues, latencies anomalies, and end to end services paths. 
•    Collaborating with Data Center Build teams
•    Provide senior-level support for complex network incidents
•    Escalation point for LAN/WAN/WIFI outages, segmentation-related disruptions and ACL changes impacts
•    Participate in rotational on-call after-hours deployments as required for production cutovers and US Rollouts windows. 

 

What You'll Bring

 

•    Demonstrate excellent communication (verbal/written/presentation) skills to be able to work well with technical peers & business stakeholders at different levels with the organization.
•    Possess excellent interpersonal skills to be able to collaborate and work closely with external vendors.
•    At least 5+ years of hands-on technical working experience in supporting, deploying and interconnecting various data network technologies at an enterprise scale, like LAN/WAN, SDWAN, Wi-Fi & WAN optimization.
•    Hands-on technical working experience with various networking operations systems, such as Cisco, Aruba, Silverpeak, Juniper Screen OS, and FortiOS.
•    Demonstrate technical working knowledge of IP enabled voice network technologies, VOIP network design and VOIP integration.
•    Demonstrate technical working knowledge of DNS/DHCP/IPAM, access list and other IP services.
•    Possess the ability to analyze complex situations and problems and do the necessary research using multiple sources of information to arrive at innovative solutions.
•    Work as part of a team, as well as work independently or with minimal direction.
•    Possess good time management and organizational skills to effectively manage high scale project.
•    Post-secondary education in computer science, computer engineering or related field required.
•    Cisco (CCNA/CCNP/CCIE), firewall (Juniper/Fortigate), and Security certifications are preferred.
•    Ensure Network Security Controls are maintained and enforced across all networking environments.
•    Maintain Network Segmentation standards to ensure proper isolation and security between environments.
