Purpose

 

Contributes to the overall success of US Finance ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The role has responsibility to ensure that information and data quality standards in accordance with the enterprise technology and data management standards for accurate, complete, and timely financial information. The incumbent also has responsibility to develop and maintain strong financial reporting and information quality disciplines.

 

What You'll Do

 

•    Responsible for the Operational Accounting functions owned by the U.S. Financial Reporting and Operational Accounting Team, including:
         - Assisting in completing the monthly and quarterly accounting close process for the U.S. Broker Dealer.
         - Performing various bank and control reconciliations
         - Wiring funds as applicable and performing bank reconciliation analysis related to funding needs

•    Assist in preparing financial statements for semi-annual and annual audited financial statements, ensuring compliance with US GAAP.

•    Assist in controlling the balance sheet by ensuring all balance sheet accounts are analyzed and reconciled monthly.

•    Assist in the preparation in monthly analytics, quarterly Board packages, and other various management packages.

•    Work with the team to help administer the balance sheet attestation and substantiation process.

•    Develop and enhance internal work papers to make processes more efficient

•    Work with the key business support partners in learning and gaining an understanding of the business that’s supported, to become effective at ensuring the team is getting the numbers right

•    Work with enterprise Finance in ensure intercompany balances are properly reconciled.

•    Responsible for assisting in the completion of the monthly financial close, specific areas of focus include monthly accrual entries for invoices and employee T&E and other assigned journal entry preparations (e.g., recoverable, prepaids).

•    Prepare accounting entries pertaining to prepaid charges, recoverable charges and accrued expenses.

•    Assist with ad hoc projects, issues, and urgent deliverables.

•    Assist with balance sheet reconciliation and certification ensuring that financial balances have been substantiated and confirmed

•    Assist with identification and remediation of US Finance issues, including self- identified, operational risk, and internal/external audit issues.

 

What You'll Bring

 

Education
•    Accounting, Finance or relevant business degree

 

Experience & Skills

•    Knowledge in Accounting/Finance principles
•    This position requires basic understanding of banking business, capital markets financial products and transaction mechanics
•    Skilled at intercompany reporting and controls
•    Strong analytical skills and an internal control mindset
•    A sense of organization and priorities are keys to the successful fulfillment of the demands of this position, with the crucial ability to work under pressure, especially during month and fiscal quarter-ends
•    In depth understanding of the General Ledger, month-end and quarter-end close processes
•    Prior experience in Financial Reporting at a broker-dealer or banking organization is a plus
•    Experience with Peoplesoft GL a plus
