Purpose
In this role as a Manager, Regulatory Reporting, you will contribute to the overall success of the U.S. Finance Department, ensuring specific individual and departmental goals, plans, initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives within the U.S. and globally as part of Global Business Markets (GBM). The Manager, Regulatory Reporting must ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
What You'll Do

Prepare regulatory reports in accordance with US GAAP and reporting instructions covering daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for New York Agency (NYA) (e.g., FR 2900, FR 2644, FFIEC 002, FFIEC 019, TIC BC, BL-1, BQ-2, BQ-3 reports, FR Y-15, FR Y-7N, BE reports, etc...).

Working knowledge of the Axiom reporting tool used by the department to produce the regulatory filings

Understand and interpret different types of transactions for compliance with U.S. GAAP and regulatory reporting instructions.

Update procedures and other documentations including process flows and risk control matrices.

Identify key control points and evaluate monitoring controls.

Capture and assess control issues and reporting deficiencies

Recommend and implement, as feasible, improvements to process and controls and reporting based on testing results by Internal Audit, Quality Assurance team, and external regulators

Ensure understanding of current finance and regulatory reporting risks that may impact specific reporting

Assist in the data collection and dashboards for financial and regulatory reporting metrics

Continuously enhance and drive first line ownership and accountability of the accuracy of Critical Data Elements (CDEs) used for Regulatory Reporting

Collaborate with various stakeholders across business and functional areas of the Bank (e.g. Operations, Treasury, Finance, IT, Product Control, Credit Risk) to interpret, operationalize and implement new regulatory reporting requirements and instructions.

Contribute to the effective governance framework around the reporting process to ensure data quality, integrity and accuracy of reports.

Assist in the development and/or updating materials to train internal stakeholders as needed, in the interpretation of FRB regulations.

Attend required Finance, US GAAP/IFRS, Regulatory, and any mandatory compliance training

Participate in any required Axiom end-to-end UAT testing between quarter end cycles

Ability to respond promptly and sufficiently to ad-hoc regulatory requests while ensuring other deliverables are met

Demonstrate an ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, independent judgment, and self-direction in meeting objectives and solving problems

Understand how the foreign banking organization’s combined U.S. operations and its legal entities’ risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values and its Code of Conduct.

What You’ll Bring
- Strong Accounting knowledge, comprehension of U.S. GAAP accounting rule / instructions, and regulatory reporting background
- 5+ years working experience in financial and regulatory reporting at a large and complex banking organization or consulting firm
- Experience working for a large international bank
- Strong understanding of financial and reporting requirements in the U.S.
- Strong understanding of bank and capital markets products
- Strong accounting and regulatory reporting background
- Proficient knowledge on applicable internal controls
- Fluent in use of Microsoft suite of applications; proficient with Excel and formulas
- Able to work effectively in a dynamically changing environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills to senior management
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
- CPA preferred; MBA a plus
