Purpose

 

The Director, Engineering plays a pivotal role in the success of the technology team by spearheading the design, development, and implementation of innovative cloud-based platforms and solutions. As an engineering lead, you will be instrumental in establishing a robust governance model, cost allocation framework, and an engineering execution plan for our multi-year roadmap. Your expertise will be key in driving continuous improvement in our solution engineering practices.

What You'll Do

 

•    Strategic planning and execution of initiatives, encompassing the design and implementation of a comprehensive solution leveraging engineering best practices, governance and cost allocation models, and development of the strategic roadmap for future technology builds.
•    Maintaining and supporting the platform, ensuring its reliability, scalability, and performance. Implementing best practices for platform support, providing troubleshooting and issue resolution, and managing platform updates and improvements.
•    Acts as a go-to expert by leveraging advanced technical skills to boost efficiency, reliability, and overall value from both established and cutting-edge technologies. Demonstrates strong technical leadership and proactively introduces plans for continuous improvement.
•    Spearheads successful delivery of solutions or infrastructure for large-scale or complex projects, drawing on deep technical expertise and exceptional hands-on experience.
•    Assumes full responsibility for designing, developing, delivering, and maintaining solutions or infrastructure, ensuring strict adherence to established standards while also helping to refine and enhance those standards.
•    Overseeing the execution of initiatives, ensuring quality and compliance, addressing audit issues and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
•    Lead the design, development, and implementation of innovative cloud-based platforms, leveraging your extensive technical expertise.
•    Ensure the scalability, reliability, security, and disaster recovery of platforms implementing best practices and cutting-edge technologies.
•    Champion data privacy regulations and compliance standards ensuring all data practices meet the highest industry standards.
•    Develop and maintain documentation and training programs to ensure ongoing compliance and privacy best practices across the organization.
•    Oversee and optimize integration, data warehousing, and governance processes driving efficiency and quality.
•    Establish and enforce a robust governance model to maintain quality, security, and compliance fostering a culture of data excellence.
•    Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of platform(s) ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the business.
•    Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of engineers, analysts, and other technical staff fostering professional growth and collaboration.
•    Promote a culture of data-driven decision making and continuous improvement empowering teams to leverage data for strategic insights.
•    Develop and execute a visionary multi-year roadmap for engineering initiatives aligning with business objectives and driving innovation.
•    Stay at the forefront of the latest trends and technologies continuously enhancing your expertise and the organization's capabilities.
•    Collaborate closely with senior leadership to align strategies with business objectives driving impactful outcomes.
•    Partner with global teams to advance large engineering initiatives forward fostering cross-functional collaboration and innovation.
•    Develop and execute comprehensive maintenance plans to ensure the ongoing health and performance of the platform maintaining platform reliability and user satisfaction.
•    Ensure 24/7 support to address any critical issues or outages promptly.
•    Regularly update and patch the platform to protect against vulnerabilities and ensure regulatory compliance maintaining a secure environment.
•    Implement comprehensive monitoring and logging solutions to detect and resolve issues proactively ensuring platform stability and performance.
•    Conduct regular performance reviews and capacity planning to accommodate growth and changing demands ensuring the platform scales effectively.

•    Demonstrated ability to create and execute multi-year roadmaps for initiatives aligning with strategic business goals.
•    Proven track record in addressing audit issues and implementing effective remediation plans ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.
•    Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a talent for inspiring and motivating diverse high-performing teams.
•    Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities adept at navigating complex challenges and driving innovative solutions.
•    Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
•    Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies continuously enhancing expertise and organizational capabilities.
•    Experience in wealth and investment domains is advantageous bringing valuable insights and expertise to the role.
•    Experience with GCP and Azure is beneficial.
•    Familiarity with data platforms like Databricks and Snowflake is a plus.
•    Knowledge of Kubernetes and CI/CD technologies is desirable.
