Purpose

 

The Corporate & Investment Banking Technology team plays a critical role in enabling the success of Scotiabank’s Global Banking & Markets (GBM) business. We design, build, and scale innovative technology solutions that drive business growth while delivering seamless, high-quality experiences for both our bankers and clients. 

 

We are seeking a strategic and forward-thinking technology leader with a strong background in banking and data platforms to join our team. GBM operates in a complex, global environment, and this role will be instrumental in advancing more connected and seamless applications and services across all jurisdictions and products. You will provide technical direction, oversee engineering execution, and ensure our data solutions align with business outcomes, enterprise strategy, and modern engineering best practices.  

 

What You'll Do

 

  • Oversee end‑to‑end delivery of high‑impact data solutions supporting Corporate & Investment Banking including client lifecycle, deal lifecycle, client analytics, CRM, and credit 
  • Provide thought leadership in the delivery of strategies and solutions that best support business objectives. Drive short and long-term product vision, strategy, and execution for both new and established solutions 
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery 
  • Coordinate dependencies across upstream data sources, downstream consumers, and partner groups 
  • Act as senior escalation point for complex data issues, performance bottlenecks, production investigations, and remediation efforts. 
  • Ensure solutions adhere to security‑by‑design principles, including identity, access, data protection, and governance. 
  • Foster a culture of engineering excellence, customer-focus, and continuous improvement. 
  • Maintain strong knowledge of the Banking and Markets business strategy across a global footprint 

 

What You'll Bring

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.  
  • 12+ years in data engineering, data platforms, or large‑scale distributed data systems. 
  • 4+ years leading multi‑team engineering organizations 

Deep expertise with: 

  • Distributed data processing & performance tuning 
  • CI/CD for data pipelines, DevOps and automation 
  • Cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS) 
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, orchestration tools, and modern testing approaches. 

Leadership & Communication 

  • Ability to influence senior business leaders, architects, and engineering teams. 
  • Skilled at simplifying technical concepts for diverse audiences. 
  • Proven ability to build high‑functioning teams with clear ownership and accountability. 
  • Able to lead multiple engineering teams through a common vision to deliver quality solutions across all products
