The Agricultural Associate supports the Agricultural Advisory Service (AAS) Team and the Advanced Planning Team by providing tax and financial planning support, organizational, and document‑preparation support for Agricultural clients of the bank.
This role functions under the close supervision and direction of the AAS lead, contributing to the coordination and preparation of materials used in advanced planning engagements involving high‑net‑worth and ultra‑high‑net‑worth clients.
Key Responsibilities
1. Information Gathering & Document Review
- Collect, organize, and maintain client information, corporate, financial and tax documents, ownership charts, and related materials as instructed by the AAS.
- A comfort level with, and an attention to detail when reviewing personal, corporate, and trust income tax returns and financial statements, as well as Wills, POAs, and personal health care directives.
- Ensure materials provided are complete. Also, identify missing information and flag items requiring follow‑up or AAS follow up.
2. Meeting Support
- Where necessary, attend in client discovery and/or presentation meetings.
- Be comfortable attending in-person client meeting in the office or mutually agreed upon location.
3. Preparation of Financial Planning and Report Drafting
- Support data entry and maintain document repositories and engagement folders.
- Draft basic components of structure summaries, meeting notes, charts, or presentation materials for AAS approval.
- Exposure or experience with complex corporate structures, tax and estate planning, business succession planning, and family and business governance matters.
- Support in integration of tax strategies specific to farm and fishing clients when modeling within the financial planning software.
- Own the wealth projections for the client by creating interesting models and scenarios for intergenerational wealth and business transfers.
4. Coordination Support
- Support with agendas, record meeting notes, and organize follow‑ups for AAS validation.
- Support logistics for internal presentations and training sessions relating to Agricultural Advisory offering.
- Assist in assembling client‑ready documentation packages, ensuring consistency, formatting quality, and proper version control.
- Help maintain internal templates, checklists, and standardized forms.
5. Internal Collaboration & Relationship Support
- Assist with routine or procedural inquiries from Relationship Managers or Advisors under AAS oversight.
- Support the facilitation of document flow between the AAS, Team of Experts (TOE), and other internal contacts.
- Assist with the preparation of communication pieces and internal materials that promote UHNW planning awareness.
6. Team Support & Operational Efficiency
- Participate in team learning and knowledge‑sharing activities.
- Ensure a consistent client experience by supporting timely and accurate document preparation.
Education & Professional Background
- Post‑secondary education in finance, accounting, tax, or a related field.
- Chartered Professional Accountant designation (or equivalent) with In-Depth Tax Course.
- Attained or working towards a CFP or IQPF designation.
- Experience working in an accounting firm, financial institution, trust company, corporate department, or similar environment is an asset.
- Candidate has an interest in learning about financial and tax planning, business transition, and UHNW advisory support specific to the Agricultural sector. Experience working or personal exposure to the Agricultural industry is an asset.
- Experience working in financial planning software (Conquest) is an asset.
