Purpose
 
Contributes to the overall success of the Accounting (AR) department of Scotia Dealer Advantage in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
 
Accountabilities 
 
•    Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
 
•    Perform accounts receivable function by: processing and balancing cash receipts including branch online deposits and western union payments, insurance, warranty, dividends, proceeds/redemptions, 3rd party and other recoveries, right of offsets; processing returned receipts, PAP rejects, NSFs and related charges; preparing bank deposits including system data upload; applying and waiving fees to customer accounts; completing the daily PAP run; assisting with the processing of Early Payouts (EPOs) and Repossessions (REPOs); completing manual dispositions; maintaining AR documentation, databases and reports; performing all other duties as assigned. 
 
•    Complete monthly clearing account reconciliations including, but not limited to: client deposits, right of offsets, online and western union payments. 
 
•    Performing SDA’s disposition payment process by: processing cheques and other disposition payments received by SDA customers, dealers, insurance agencies and others; completing the daily dispositions refunds schedules including buyouts, end of term, admin fee and net pays; performing the daily bank run including cheque deposits and disposition mail receipts; performing all other duties as assigned. 
 
•    Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
 
•    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct. 
 
•    Champions a high performance, continuous improvement, work environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team. 
 
Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)
 
Degree, diploma or certificate in an accounting or finance program an asset but not required.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize. 
A high degree of flexibility is required to adapt to a variety of tasks and functions.
Working knowledge and practical experience with Microsoft Office.
