Purpose

 

The Training Specialist is responsible for supporting the management of resources and the administration of training in alignment with the Global Wholesale Operations (GWO) strategy, and the bank's existing policies.

 


Accountabilities 

 

• Act as a spokesperson for a customer-focused culture, aiming to strengthen client relationships and leverage the Bank’s overall relationships, systems, and knowledge.
• Lead specific, general, and mandatory training sessions within Global Wholesale Operations.
• Review training materials, organize training activities when required, and ensure their proper execution.
• Work closely with the Global Wholesale Operations team(s) to ensure appropriate training is delivered to staff who require it regarding new initiatives, processes, and strategies.
• Conduct follow-ups, prepare reports, and keep employee training records up to date.
• Ensure consistent training aligned with performance needs.
• Propose internal activities to promote improvement of the work environment and staff integration, as well as social or community service activities for employees.
• Propose new ways of working and adapt training programs (materials, methodology, and resources) to meet current operational needs or company policies.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in daily activities and decision-making.
• Execute effective and efficient operations within their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, while ensuring suitability, compliance, and effectiveness of daily business controls to meet obligations related to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, anti-money laundering and terrorist financing risk, and conduct risk.
• Promote a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive workplace.

 

Education / Experience / Other Information 

 

•    Strong knowledge of all Capital Markets and financial services products and services.
•    Preferably, experience in training and resource management within similar environments.
•    Preferably, knowledge of security settlements, lending services, loans, and asset servicing
•    Knowledge of e-learning content and material design.
•    Strong organizational and motivational skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle a variety of tasks and complex situations in daily work.
•    Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
•    Coaching skills: we must be able to guide employees toward solutions in their areas of opportunity.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
•    Bilingual: Spanish (English B2).
