Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Strategy & Delivery Management, Global HR Technology globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Accountabilities

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Technical Support
    • Provide 2nd level technical support to supported Global HR Technology applications, includes investigating problem logs, and if requires getting 3rd level support or support vendor to assist in problem resolution.
    • Ability to troubleshoot simple to complex problems. 
    • Learn new technology to become proficient in its use to provide the most cost-effective technology support solutions.
    • Need to have a good knowledge of Industry and Scotiabank technology & security standards which will be applied and enforced by the incumbent on day-to-day basis.
    • Areas of expertise will range from operating system, database, web applications, web servers, networking, and desktop tools.
    • Strong knowledge of interoperability workings of all these technical components is required.
    • Required to identify improvements to all operational support activities as well as maintain accurate and up to date operational manuals for day-to-day activities.
  • System Analysis and Design
    • Work with users, technical groups, vendors, and other analysts to assist in developing requirements from the perspective of a technical support analyst.  
    • Create design and support related documentations.
    • Strong level of knowledge of any new design that will have direct or in-direct technical impact to the supported environment.
  • Code Promotion
    • Manage code promotions on all servers within their jurisdiction.  
    • Co-coordinating any Change Request Forms “CRF” / Emergency Change Requests “ECR” with banking operations, security control and external vendors where necessary.  
    • Accuracy of executing code promotion accountability is required to be very high.
    • Detailed oriented identifying, solving, and improving issues around code promotions.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • Technical Support for Global Human Resources globally
  • Support an ecosystem made up 150+ servers
  • Supports compliance and regulatory updates
  • Responsible for change management for technical operations deployments 
  • Accountable for meeting established service level agreements
  • Responsible for coaching of assigned junior staff as needed

 

Education / Experience / Other Information

•    The individual must have strong working knowledge of administrating and optimizing Databases, Web applications, server, and desktop tools.
•    The individual must have a thorough understanding of desktop and server operating systems (Windows/Linux)
•    Programming skills are required to develop installation scripts for the deployment of developed software solutions.
•    The individual must have strong problem-solving skills to trouble shoot problems across the different environments, systems, and networks with the emphasis on a client service focus. Working independently or identifying and engaging appropriate resources to help in problem resolution. 
•    Advanced working knowledge required in 6 or more of the following technical tools / environments:
1.    Microsoft SQL Server 2019 and above, relational databases.
2.    Scripting basics: Microsoft Active X, C Shell Script, PowerShell
3.    MS SQL Server Administration, ETL SSIS package development, troubleshoot SSIS packages, SSRS report administration, working with SSAS (cubes), and Power BI reports (nice to have)
4.    Microsoft 2019 Server with IIS 8-10, and an understanding of IIS Configuration, SSL certificates, and app pools
5.    Understanding of encryption algorithms
6.    Understanding of Azure basics
7.    An understanding of Red Hat Linux, and Bash scripting
8.    An understanding of Autosys scheduling
•    An understanding of ITIL processes i.e., ServiceNow
