Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Department ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Accountabilities

  • Resolve issues relating to unplanned disruption or degradation of service within the non-prod environments.
  • Implements, maintains and supports application releases to meet the business needs of the organizations and to scale as we grow
  • Helps to provide regular input and updates to the documented inventory of our environments
  • Stay in tune to the industry's technical direction and taps into IB business directions. 
  • Perform root-cause analysis and problem resolution to prevent incident occurrence within our testing environments
  • Assist in implementing strategies to avoid risks during Production delivery, and code changes during testing for implications on environmental needs. 
  • Serves as the subject matter expert on the applications we support within the team. Provides training and support as needed.
  • Communicate regular statuses on the various activities being performed
  • Work closely with Value Stream, CCA TechOps and QA teams to understand testing requirements and provide options and recommendations for addressing testing needs.
  • Provide feedback to Value Stream, CCA TechOps and QA teams in test strategies from an environment and deployment perspective.
  • Continuously review and identify improvement opportunities for team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ability to manage and execute a full-scale release of multiple applications and schedules from an operational perspective
  • Creating build and deployment pipelines for applications in CI servers like Azure DevOps Server, IBM UrbanCode Deploy, and Jenkins.
  • Good understanding of CI Tools like Azure DevOps for administration and support to the development community.
  • Build and Maintain DEV Testing environments to support Development testing Application Codes.
  • Installing, configuration and managing infrastructure on public cloud like Azure, Google cloud and troubleshooting issues
  • Create scripts for pre and post deployment tasks
  • Manage product backlogs and bugs using tools like Jira
  • Automation of day-to-day jobs using scripting languages like Python.
  • Windows server’s administration and maintenance, Maintenance activities MS Vulnerability patching, VM maintenance
  • Knowledge of AS400 and RPG programming language is an asset.
  • Data centre operations like server maintenance, backup and storage tapes management.
  • Release deployments usually happen after-hours and on weekends. Flexibility to support during those times is needed.
  • Involved in the full systems life cycle and is responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing and supporting CIAD pipelines that is delivered on time and within budget.
  • Contributes to the design of new applications and undertakes enhancements.
  • Makes recommendations towards the development of new code or reuse of existing code.
  • Responsibilities may also include participation in component and data architecture design; performance monitoring, product evaluation and buy vs. build recommendations.
  • Provides front-line operations support and coordination when pipeline/utility problems occur.

Education / Experience / Other Information

  • Computer Science Diploma or Degree; or related work experience. (systems, software engineering)
  • 2 – 3 years of experience in support – development (automation)
  • Java, Python
  • Soft skills: Communication skills
