Purpose


The Senior Manager Model Design and Best Practices, supports the Director, Model Design and Best Practices by analyzing operational process to identify, assess and set strategic initiatives to drive improvements throughout Retail and Small Business Collections. The incumbent plays a key role to determine, and propose changes to collection models, in matters of operational processes, technology and organization. Also, is responsible to conduct financial assessments and provide support for successful implementations by ensuring full adherence to Scotiabank’s standards. This role participates in the timely delivery of high quality; value added assurance and business intelligence for collections business. As some of the Scotiabank’s businesses have their particularities, the role will require a close partnership with them to better understand their processes and set pragmatic and well-reasoned solutions for problems stated

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge
  • Analyze and Identify process enhancements and uses his / her knowledge to determine and set optimal and well-reasoned recommendations under a pragmatic sense
  • Applies comprehensive expertise and leverages his / her knowledge into a leadership role to reach desired future state
  • Ensure strategic alignment by overseeing / define a suite of key performance indicators, to have full visibility over collections processes
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate statistical and financial models to enhance Operational models 
  • Participates in major business initiatives and pro-actively advises and assists the business on change initiatives
  • Frequently involved in matters that require complex judgments and solutions based on sophisticated analytical and financial thought
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct
  • Champions a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates teams by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vison/values/business strategy

Education / Experience / Other Information

 

Education
Undergraduate Degree in Financial, Administrative or Science (Actuary / Statistics / Engineer)  

Experience

  • Broad experience in a related role with a comprehensive understanding of Collection processes, with emphasis on Call Centre Performance Management, Contact Management & Workforce Optimization
  • Good understanding of Retail Financial Services and/or Retail Portfolio Management
  • Ability to present / articulate data in a graphical or pictorial format to better understand its significance and articulate solutions to a variety of problems tabled
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages (R, SQL, Phyton, etc.)

Other Information

  • MUST be fluent in English and Spanish (oral and written skills) 
  • Well-developed communication and presentation skills combined with ability to influence and build strong partnerships at all levels including key stakeholders
  • Strategic thinker but also able to deliver tactically within tight timelines
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with high attention to detail and accuracy


Working Conditions


Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Moderate travel internationally
