Purpose

The Senior Manager is responsible for overseeing the GBS Sourcing and Supplier Management team and supporting Global Procurement project activities. This role offers a strategic view of third-party supplier relationships across business lines and regions, working closely with senior leadership to align goals, drive innovation, and improve performance. In addition to supporting key supplier engagements, the Senior Manager proactively identifies and mitigates risks related to information security, regulatory compliance, legal exposure, and financial health. The role ensure supplier performance meets contractual obligations and that financial spend aligns with approved budgets and business cases.

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Collaborate with Business Unit and Operations leaders to fully understand key business drivers, spend drivers, and achieve required support levels.

 

  • Proactively work with the Business Line contract owners to understand business needs, business strategy, and pipeline of contract renewals to build an overall supplier contract strategy, with consideration for consolidation and reduction of contracts where opportunity exists.

 

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. 

 

  • Provides category support within and across the Bank’s business segments and serve as a key contributor to a well-developed and evolving supplier management process with oversight and accountability for key vendor contracts and performance.  

 

  • Act as an issues/incident escalation point for the supplier that may have an enterprise-wide impact.

 

  • Monitors and consolidates performance to ensure contract compliance and support escalations with an enterprise-wide impact or not resolved at the business level. 

 

  • Contribute to a disciplined effort to influence spend and drive cost savings across all business segments.

 

  • Ensures strong third-party management practices aligned to enterprise model are in place to drive continuous improvement. 

 

  • Leads identification of value creation or supplier savings opportunities with Strategic Sourcing lead and Business Lines.

 

  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

 

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

 

  • Champions a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates team members by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.

 

  • Collaborates with supplier management managers/strategic sourcing managers and the GPS business partners to ensure ONEGPS support and delivery to our business partners across the Bank.

 

  • Responsible for an up-to-date supplier portfolio that has complete and accurate information demonstrating the supplier ecosystem/portfolio is free of risk (operational, regulatory, financial, reputational, etc.), performance, financial variances against contract and policies.

 

  • Coordinate the identification, classification/segmentation and ranking of supplier risks, risk impacts and performance across the assigned suppliers within the Procurement portfolio.

 

  • Accountable for adhering to a consistent, repeatable approach to managing the risk/performance of their assigned low/medium risk supplier portfolio to the organization through regular evaluation and reporting at the mandated periodic intervals (monthly, quarterly, annually).

 

  • Ensure third- (and fourth-) party supplier compliance to contract obligations for both risk/performance/financial, including any regulatory compliance items.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and comfort in speaking with senior leaders at the Bank, including ability to bridge communications between stakeholders with a focus on structuring contracts to deliver against bank’s needs.
  • Knowledgeable in financial services and regulations (e.g., OSFI, OCC, CFPB, UDAAP) and how they are applied to Third Party relationships is preferred.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills.

  • Knowledge and experience with state-of-the-art procurement and analysis technologies.
  • Strong understanding of supplier management and governance concepts including risk management applications and services.
  • Experience developing and completing third-party risk assessments for enterprise suppliers.
  • Thorough understanding of Supplier Qualification, TPM, and TPRM processes

  • Understanding of financial concepts, such as Dun & Bradstreet scores, that will help in evaluating the financial and operational risk associated with incumbent and potential suppliers

 

Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, business, or related field; master (MA or MSc) in business or related field an asset.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years progressive sourcing, supplier management, and/or global supplier oversight experience.
  • CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) preferred.
  • Global sourcing, supplier management, and global supplier oversight experience
