Purpose

 

Contributes to the overall success of the Quality Assurance function within Canadian Banking Engineering & Retail Business Banking Operations in Bogotá, Colombia, ensuring automation, functional and non-functional testing (NFT) are effectively executed across multiple applications.
This role is responsible for designing, executing, and continuously improving automated test assets and test practices, including automated and functional tests, automated regression suites, API validations, and NFT testing while adhering to established QA standards, governance frameworks, and best practices. 

 

Accountabilities 

 

•Champions a customer-focused culture mindset that helps to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge by ensuring testing activities (functional, API, automation, and NFT)
 contribute to enhancing user experience, system reliability, and overall product quality across multiple applications.

•Proactively reviews requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to identify test scope early (functional flows, API validation points, automation candidates, and NFT needs), providing timely and value-added feedback to ensure high-quality and scalable solutions.

•Designs, develops, and oversees the implementation of comprehensive, well-structured (manual and automated) test plans and test cases, ensuring optimal coverage, reliability, and efficiency prior to product release to ensure software runs smoothly and meets client’s needs while being cost-effective.

•Builds, runs, and maintains automated test cases using approved automation frameworks and tools (e.g., BDD with Cucumber, automation IDE workflows such as IntelliJ), ensuring automation assets remain reusable, maintainable, and aligned with automation governance standards.

• Plans and executes API testing to validate service behavior and data integrity, using approved tools and practices (e.g., Postman, SoapUI) and integrating results into overall quality evidence.

• Executes Non-Functional Testing (NFT) activities including performance and load testing following defined phases (analysis, planning, design, execution/results) and using approved tooling such as Apache JMeter; supports evidence-based reporting using NFT metrics and outcomes.

• Leads analysis of test execution outcomes (functional, automation, API, and NFT), monitors debugging results, identifies root causes, and defines corrective/preventive actions in collaboration with development and stakeholders.

•Performs ongoing maintenance of test assets (especially automation scripts and NFT/API suites), proactively addressing failures caused by application changes, tooling updates, and environment configuration changes to ensure stable and continuous execution.

•Defines, tracks, and continuously improves QA metrics (e.g., coverage, execution stability, defect leakage, and NFT measures) to ensure transparency, support release decisions, and drive continuous improvement.

•Continuously evaluates and adopts emerging tools, technologies, and automation strategies, including AI-driven solutions, to optimize testing efficiency and improve overall QA effectiveness.

•Ensures all automation activities align with the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture, proactively identifying risks related to automation frameworks, scripts, and deployments, and implementing mitigation strategies.

•Contributes to maintaining a controlled and efficient operational environment by ensuring adherence to automation governance standards, frameworks, and enterprise policies, day-to-day business controls to meet obligations concerning operational risk, regulatory compliance, AML/ATF, and conduct risk requirements.

•Fosters strong collaboration across QA, development, and project teams, ensuring alignment and consistency in automation approaches across multiple applications and initiatives.

•Actively shares knowledge, promotes best practices, and contributes to building and maintaining reusable automation assets, frameworks, and libraries to increase scalability and efficiency.

Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)

 

•A degree in computer science, IT Business/Management or engineering-related discipline is desirable.
•3-5 years of demonstrable, practical hands-on experience as a Test Automation Engineer.
•English B2
•Automation certification is an asset.
•ISTQB or Scrum certification are considered an asset.
