Purpose

Lead and oversees Global Engineering for Operations & Functions – Scotiabank Technology ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Accountabilities

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
• Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback. 
• Create and implement detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans before product launches to ensure software runs smoothly and meets client’s needs, while being cost effective.
• Monitor debugging process results and define and execute corrective actions.
• Track quality assurance metrics and create action plans accordingly.
• Stay up to date with new testing tools and strategies.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
• Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
• Fosters a solid working relationship with all members in the QA organization.
• Share knowledge and best practices across the organization.
• Develop reusable automation scripts that will reduce cost, timelines and improve efficiencies across the organization.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)

Must have

• A degree in computer science, IT Business/Management or engineering related discipline is desirable.
• 3+ years of demonstrable, practical hands-on experience as a Test Automation Engineer or Software developer.
• Expertise in SQL, JAVA, Selenium, and other automated testing tools are critical to the automation journey, working cohesively with manual testers and developers to produce nothing short of high-quality work in exciting high-profile projects to put quality products to market.
• Proven work experience in software test automation.
• Proven work experience in software quality assurance.
• Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
• Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test cases.
• Experience with writing simple and complex SQL queries for data validation.

Nice to have:

• Hands-on experience with both white box and black box testing.
• Hands-on experience with automated testing tools.
• Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.
• Experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus.
• Demonstrable practical hands-on experience with Test Management tools like Jira-Xray, HP ALM, Mantis, etc.
• Demonstrable practical hands working with project management tools like Jira.
