The Team

The Global Human Resources Technology team is responsible for the project development, sustainment and maintenance work related to the Human Resources software platforms and applications in Scotiabank.

The Role

The purpose of this role is to provide integrations and technical support for the SAP Fieldglass application, while following accepted programming and testing standards and Scotiabank internal procedures.

The role is hands-on and requires a thorough understanding of detailed designs of proposed solutions & monitoring integrations. Domain expertise is needed in Vendor Management Systems (VMS), Managed Service Provider (MSP), E2E Talent Procurement processes, invoicing, contract Life Cycle Management and integrations with Global Payments.

Some of the key accountabilities include:

  • Analyze complex business requirements; generate technical specifications to design or redesign software components, solutions, or applications in relation to the current VMS applications.
  • Perform as an expert technical resource for modeling and effort analysis, leveraging industry leading practices to design, test, implement and support solutions.
  • Define and document the structure, integration points and relationships of business processes, organizational work groups, data models, applications, user and application interfaces.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You Will Bring to Succeed

  • The incumbent is the Subject Matter Expert (SME) of the HR application system(s) they manage.
  • Project / Enhancement end dates are often dictated by the need for timely delivery of new products. It is imperative that change is completed in a risk-based approach, completed in the allotted timeframe and budget, covering as much functionality as is necessary to prove the system will operate efficiently in Production before promoting the enhancements or configurations.  
  • Participate in the analysis of business processes/requests and write detailed system and reporting requirements or lead sessions that allow analysts to collect the necessary information to write these requirements. Requirements must provide sufficient detail for development teams to proceed with technical design and development of the solution. 
  • Lead and participate in the review of user acceptance test strategies to ensure the planned testing is comprehensive, consistent with the business requirements and the end-to-end process is fully documented. Support user acceptance testing by analyzing problem logs as required to: (i) provide clarification of business requirements; (ii) define which problems need to be resolved for implementation; and (iii) negotiate the severity classification of problem logs with the client.
  • Ensure a successful implementation for each assigned enhancement/ project by: (i) contributing to the system and user implementation strategies; (ii) providing problem resolution post-implementation; and (iii) transitioning support of the application to the appropriate support group

Skills and Experience include:

  • Experience with HR & related systems, such as SAP Fieldglass. Preferably some experience in Oracle products, such as PeopleSoft and Travel and Expenses; Coupa (SmartBuy) and/or other similar procurement tools and Data Management tools.
  • Strong experience with monitoring integration projects, making sure solutions meet business requirements, solving system issues, collaborating with analysts, identifying potential issues with new applications, and optimizing business processes.
  • Must have experience with Cloud offerings, especially Software as a Service (SaaS); knowledge of Azure, Oracle cloud is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of industry technology trends and leading practices related to system interoperability
  • Thorough knowledge of cloud security, User Authentication, Web-based (Internal & external) Application Authentication.
  • Hands on experience with API security patterns such as (OAuth2, SAML2.0).
  • Experience with ETL tools such SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and knowledge of Web services: SOAP, REST API.


  • Previous Financial industry experience is a plus (2-3 years).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Business or Management Information Systems preferred.
  • 3-5 years of functional systems experience.
  • SAP Certifications highly desirable.
