Title:  Payroll Analyst

Purpose

The Payroll Analyst is responsible for supporting the Canadian Payroll Operations Team with daily payroll functions including assisting the team with the bi-weekly payroll process, management of employee inquiries, preparation of ROEs, and tax forms and various projects. In addition, provide support with an eagerness to learn and be challenged. 

Accountabilities 
•    Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge

•    Support the day-to-day payroll activities within the Payroll Operations Team including preparation and processing of the biweekly payroll, the preparation of ROEs and tax forms using the SAP Payroll System

•    Assist with payroll-related investigations escalated through the HR Service – Case Management syste. 

•    Assists with year-end payroll activities (T4’s, RL1’s, reconciliations and filings) – On an as needed basis

•    Lead the active claims process through exection of reports, audits and employee email communication

•    Assits with year-end activities and processes such as auditing tax slips, and working with HR partners to ensure a successful year-end closing

•    Ensures the processing and completion of all payroll data are in compliance with the Bank’s policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements 

•    Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions

•    Leads by example by being a champion in PEGA case management, delivering quality customer service and keeping our employees and client satisfaction top of mind, while delivering on our SLA and commitment to our customers

•    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations within his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct

 

Requirements
•    Strong verbal & written communication skills (English and Spanish) - Required
•    1-2 years of experience in similar roles (desired)
•    Technical/Technological degree or undergraduate in Business Administration, Human Resources, or similar.
•    Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, to enable the incumbent to produce Word documents and presentations professionally, accurately and efficiently as required by the Leadership team.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills: Represents the department as the first contact for visitors, staff, and vendors. Must maintain strong relationships with Leadership Team, handle confidential matters discretely, and remain calm under pressure.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills: Must be able to effectively direct incoming calls from multiple sources and take detailed messages where appropriate. Must be able to correct spelling/grammar/vocabulary on outgoing material, and complete and distribute accurate minutes for business meetings attended.
•    Task and results-oriented, self-motivated, and highly organized: must effectively and efficiently multi-task to handle high volumes of work under strict deadlines, prioritizing the workload as required.  Able to demonstrate flexibility with working outside normal schedule as required to meet business needs.
•    Customer focused: use interpersonal, listening, communication and negotiating skills to deal with staff at all levels, including clerical, supervisory/management, senior management within the HR services Operations sites, other key internal partners, and third-party vendors.
•    Good time-management skills: able to work on multiple assignments and be adaptable to changing priorities.
