Purpose

 

Strategy, Governance & Learning supports the Banks overall AML program. By conducting intake, triage, enhanced due diligence, name scanning and payment screening, AML Operations is able to identify and monitor high risk customers and suspicious activities.
Under the Senior Manager Strategy, Governance and Learning - Global AML Operations, the Manager coordinates and overs the change management, communication and business enablement activities being driven by Strategy, Governance & Learning in the AML Operations units, and assists in project management and/or implementation for new initiatives which promote a positive culture of AML/ATF and sanctions risk management and compliance across the organization unit ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed/delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

 

Accountabilities

 

•    Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
•    Supports Toronto's Strategy Governance & Learning team with coordinating the completions of the AML Operations Training plan under the guidance of the Senior Manager, Strategy, Governance & Learning.
•    Assists and tracks the development of new projects impacting the AML Operations teams and supports the implementation
•    Supports the Strategy, Governance & Learning team by identifying, coordinating and tracking in-country 2nd line resources and subject matter experts by:
•    Directing and coordinating regular status meetings with Strategy, Governance & Learning Senior Manager and  AML Operations business leads to organize and facilitate working sessions
•    Identifying in-country SMEs to support the Strategy, Governance & Learning team's development of training content
•    Identifying and liaising with partners (AML Operations leads, Local AML Risk, LSOs, In-country Product Groups, Internal Controls, etc.) to coordinate under the guidance of the Strategy, Governance & Learning team, any targeted, business as usual or ad hoc training activities
•    Coordinating and obtaining the appropriate sign-offs of training developed by the Strategy, Governance & Learning team in a timely manner
•    Follow outlined processes to track and provide timely reporting of activities in alignment with AML Operations Training Program Standards

•    Develop, implement and sustain documented processes for managing Change and Business Enablement activities within the 1B AML Operations and Strategy, Governance & Learning team under the guidance of the Director, Strategy Governance & Learning

•    Take on ad hoc Strategy, Governance & Learning projects as assigned

•    Proactively address issues for emerging gaps – engage/lead cross functional teams to address systemic or persistent issues in day-to-day operations and define the operational needs parameters and support requirements for steady state processes

•    Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

•    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of your respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AMUATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framewor1<, AMUATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Primary Manager: •    Senior Manager, Strategy, Governance and Learning - Global AML Operations in GBS Colombia
•    Senior Manager, Strategy, Governance and Learning - Global AML Operations in Toronto

   

Dimensions

 

•    Receives direction and/or guidance from the Director Strategy Governance and Learning, Director, AML Operations and VP AML Operations
•    Will support Global Oracle program project team and five business lines Global Operations, Canadian Banking, Wealth Management, International Banking and GBM
•    Require in depth knowledge of GAMUATF Oracle and other systems
•    Must comply with all GAMUATF compliance regulations
•    Learning background is preferred
•    Strong project management skills

 

 


Education / Experience 

 

•    Fluency in English and Spanish is required
•    Bachelor's degree in Education, Communications, Business Management or equivalent
•    Minimum 3-5 years of Compliance/Risk Management experience preferred
•    Training and communications experience is an asset
•    Results oriented, highly motivated with a keen ability to influence others Self-reliant and pro-active approach to work
•    Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
•    Excellent written and verbal skills required to prepare communications and training and interact effectively
•    with internal and external parties
•    Strong editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills are essential
•    Strong organizational, project management and planning skills
•    Ability to demonstrate highly developed facilitation and presentation skills
•    Thorough knowledge of the Bank's interactive systems including Excel, PowerPoint and Word Consistently demonstrating self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship management, and Scotiabank's Core Values: Integrity, Respect, Passion and Accountability


Working Conditions
•    Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours may be required.
