Purpose
The Manager is responsible for leading Bank-wide supplier and sourcing activities within the assigned category portfolio, providing a holistic view of enterprise third-party relationships across business lines and geographic regions. This role works closely with senior business unit leadership, sourcing leaders, and key suppliers to drive strategic initiatives focused on value creation, innovation, service quality, and performance improvement. Supported by senior leadership, the Manager contributes to the development and execution of supplier strategies, ensures alignment with third party management policies and standards, and promotes centralized, data-driven decision-making in supplier selection. By fostering a competitive marketplace and enhancing collaboration, the Manager plays a critical role in reducing total cost of ownership and improving overall supplier performance across the organization.
Accountabilities
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Proactively work with the Business Line and contract owners to understand business needs, business strategy, and pipeline of contract renewals to build an overall supplier contract strategy (consolidate and reduce contracts where opportunity exists)
- Consolidate information around performance and renewals and renewals and support Category Sourcing leads to inform category sourcing and supplier strategies
- Develop Top-to-Top Enterprise Supplier Meeting facilitation materials for enterprise suppliers
- Act as the issues/incident escalation point for the supplier that may have an enterprise-wide impact or not resolved at the business level
- Lead identification of value creation or supplier savings opportunities with Strategic Category Sourcing lead, Business Line and contract owners
- Lead the supplier relationship team that will consist of various stakeholders (Supplier Management team, Contract Owners, Strategic Sourcing/ Category Lead and Executive Owner)
- Facilitate supplier issue resolution for escalated matters, engaging the key stakeholders
- Facilitate development of supplier and category strategies as required alongside Strategic Sourcing/ Category Lead
- Maintain strong relationships with Business Line and account executives to enable enterprise views of Vendor and drive vendor strategies
- Ensure strong third-party management practices are in place and aligned to enterprise model
- Collaborate with Business Unit and Operations leaders to fully understand key business drivers, spend drivers, and achieve required support levels
- Develop relationships with business leaders to support enterprise objectives, influence key stakeholders and jointly develop strategic sourcing strategies while collaborating on sourcing initiatives and projects
- Manage business value through the development of high quality and cost-effective supply relationships, while pursuing and championing total cost of ownership (TCO) savings directly by savings captured through leveraging Bank-wide purchasing volume, strategic supplier relationships, demand management or indirect savings realized by driving innovation and or enhancing the overall effectiveness of the supply management process
- Directly manage and implement best practices in sourcing initiatives
- Manage category within and across the Bank’s business segments, and serve as a key contributor to a well-developed and evolving supplier management process
- Track sourcing initiatives for multi-functional stakeholder teams, ensuring effective strategy development, market assessments, RFP processes, contract and supplier negotiation, and supplier management while enabling collaboration and innovation between stakeholders and suppliers
- Establish and develop on-going strategic relationships with key suppliers during major sourcing/project initiatives
- Contribute to a disciplined effort to influence spend and drive cost savings across all business segments
- Support consistent application of procurement processes across constituent groups
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be incorporate into in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML and ATF sanctions and conduct risk.

- Ability to bridge communications between Sourcing, business and legal stakeholders/partners with a focus on developing an understanding of how to structure contracts to deliver against bank’s needs
- Understand the wider objectives of procurement practices, such as business and strategic goals.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and comfort in speaking with senior leaders at the Bank
- Knowledgeable in financial services and regulations (e.g., OSFI, OCC, CFPB, UDAAP) and how they are applied to Third Party relationships is preferred
- Ability to comprehend complex technical and financial issues and use them to inform the creation of effective action plans and supplier strategies
- Ability to provide both technical and managerial leadership to his/her organization
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills
- Ability to develop analyses and insights into supply market trends
- Knowledge and understanding of Bank Business Units
- Demonstrated leading Strategic Sourcing and/or strategic supplier relationships.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in management, business, or related field; master (MA or MSc) in business or related field preferred
- 3-5 years’ experience in progressive sourcing experience, supplier relationship management, and performance preferred
- University degree and postgraduate qualifications, or equivalent combination of education and Supplier management experience
- Strong financial acumen
- Demonstrated ability to build sustainable, transparent relationships / partnerships
- Extensive experience managing and coordinating internal and external stakeholder groups for proven service delivery.

- Vendor management – SLAs, performance consolidation, supplier development etc.
- CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) preferred
- Global sourcing experience.
- Bilingual English/Spanish language skills (B2 English level)
Working Conditions
Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
