Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Finance, Technology & Operations Area in Canada, Colombia and Dominican Republic ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Translate complex business requirements into Business Intelligence solutions (KPIs, dashboards, and analytical models) that support strategic decision-making across GBS and Global Operations.
Serve as the MIS team's technical leader, combining leadership, hands-on execution, and technological innovation, including the responsible adoption of Artificial Intelligence, while ensuring operational efficiency, data quality, and the delivery of business value.
Accountabilities
• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Team Leadership and Management
• Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering a customer-centric, data-driven, and results-oriented culture.
• Coordinate and oversee the MIS team's technical execution, serving as the area's second line of leadership.
• Drive professional development through technical coaching and the adoption of analytical best practices.
Technical Execution and Business Intelligence
• Actively participate in the full lifecycle of BI solutions, including data extraction, transformation, modeling, and visualization.
• Build, analyze, and manage large volumes of data from multiple sources, consolidating them into a robust data architecture.
• Design, develop, and maintain KPIs, dashboards, and analytical models as a single, reliable source of information.
Data Architecture and Quality
• Design, maintain, and continuously evolve the data architecture, ensuring scalability, availability, and efficiency.
• Define, monitor, and ensure data quality metrics, including accuracy, consistency, integrity, reliability, and availability.
• Perform regular quality control and validation processes against official data sources.
Advanced Analytics and Strategic Support
• Apply data mining, statistical, and advanced analytics techniques to generate actionable insights.
• Translate business requirements into clear and measurable metrics through close collaboration with stakeholders.
• Develop periodic executive reports and ad hoc analyses for operational, managerial, and executive-level audiences.
Automation and Process Management
• Design, develop, and optimize automated processes (ETL/ELT) using tools such as Python and SQL.
• Reduce manual intervention, minimize errors, and ensure the sustainability of analytical solutions.
• Identify and implement improvements in processes, information flows, and reporting models.
Artificial Intelligence Adoption
• Evaluate, implement, and optimize Artificial Intelligence solutions applied to analytics and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies, information security standards, and data governance practices.
• Assess technical feasibility, operational impact, and business value generated by AI initiatives.
Data Governance and Risk Management
• Ensure compliance with data governance standards, information security requirements, and internal controls.
• Incorporate the Bank's risk appetite into analytical management practices and decision-making processes.
• Promote adherence to regulations related to operational risk, compliance, and the responsible use of data.
Stakeholder Management
• Serve as a strategic partner and primary point of contact for internal clients and global teams.
• Gather requirements, manage expectations, and ensure the accurate interpretation of business metrics.
• Communicate results and insights in a clear, structured, and decision-oriented manner.
Continuous Maintenance and Innovation
• Provide ongoing support, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of the MIS architecture and analytical solutions.
• Recommend improvements to optimize, standardize, and modernize the data environment.
• Stay current with trends in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience
Academic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Statistics, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Preferred: Postgraduate degree and/or certifications in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, or Artificial Intelligence.
Required Experience
• 5 to 8 years of experience in MIS, Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or related roles.
• Strong experience managing large datasets and integrating multiple data sources.
• Proven experience designing and developing executive reports and dashboards.
• Experience automating analytical and reporting processes.
• Experience collaborating with stakeholders and serving as a business analytics partner.
• Experience in data quality management and data governance practices.
• Experience leading or providing technical mentorship to teams (minimum of 3 years preferred).
Technical Skills
Business Intelligence and Data Visualization
• Proficiency in Power BI, Excel, and/or Access.
• Experience designing executive dashboards, semantic models, and business-oriented KPIs.
• Strong data storytelling capabilities.
Programming and Automation
• Proficiency in Python, including libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and other data-processing tools.
• Experience optimizing data workflows and automation processes.
Databases
• Advanced SQL proficiency.
• Experience working with relational databases and tools such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
Data Analysis
• Advanced Excel skills, including Power Query, Power Pivot, Pivot Tables, and complex formulas.
Data Architecture
• Solid knowledge of Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, Data Marts, and dimensional data modeling.
• Experience with ETL/ELT processes.
Data Governance and Quality
• Experience monitoring data quality metrics aligned with enterprise data governance standards.
• Knowledge of governance frameworks, controls, and best practices.
Artificial Intelligence
• Experience evaluating and implementing AI solutions for business applications.
• Understanding of predictive models, augmented analytics, and advanced automation technologies.
