Purpose
As a Director in IB Client Services Engineering the position will oversee the Client Systems of Record and Client Data Capabilities, and its technology modernization path. It has an extended responsibility enable modernization and digitization of IB Client technology and Client Onboarding and Product Onboarding technologies. This is a high-impact role, leading a group of technology professionals responsible for technical design, development and delivery of the Client platforms, able to resolve complex, multi-dimensional business problems to support such key platforms and business needs. Accountabilities
- Leads the Client Systems and Client Data Engineering team to execute the technology initiatives for the 13 countries belonging to International Banking, and Canada
- Enable Client Onboarding and Product Onboarding modernization and digitization, in partnership with IB Digital Engineering functions.
- Responsible for the continuing support, maintaining security and software currency sustaining to ensure the incumbents Technology systems are secure
- Responsible for the modernization and innovation path of the Client Data Book of records and other systems under his/her responsibility.
- Responsible for the design, architecture and the successful implementation of effective and quality solutions that resolve highly complex business problems and support business needs. Accountable for delivery according to pre agreed timelines and budgetary constraints. And ensure that delivery meets the integrity, quality, performance, and reliability requirements.
- Effectively manage and lead a team of professional than could include Engineering managers, architects, software engineers, QA specialist and developers by setting performance expectations, monitoring performance, and providing counsel and coaching. This includes assisting in the recruitment of talents and building high performing teams.
- Responsible to lead and develop the team assigned to him on their career path and support and leverage new leadership based on Scotiabank values and professional proficiency.
- Perform hands-on analysis and solutioning as needed.

- The role requires interaction with business and technology leadership, consequently effective communications commensurate with the audience and the ability to promote an idea and gain consensus is critical.

Dimensions
- Manage an annual budget over 5 MM in operational, KTLO and projects
- Responsible of a wide team located in IB of 84+ staff and contractors
- Technology ownership and end to end technical responsibility over the Customer Data/ CIF and Onboarding Platform technology Systems in International Banking.
- Lead all the modernization path and convergence for new Client Data Services , book of record and client onboarding applications which supports the bank ability to onboard/approve new clients and products.
Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)
- 8+ years of relevant software development and IT industry work experience, with clear progression through ranks, and 3+ years leading and building high performance teams • Strong programming skills in Java, Javascript and RPG/COBOL (desirable), experience with a wide spectrum of technologies including Cloud development/deployment (Azure/Google), and Databases (any of SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DB2 or MongoDB).
- Experience and understanding of modern architectures and technologies, including microservices, Domain Driven Design, DevOps, IaaC and Event-streaming.
- Must be a strong leader with excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills to build consensus and obtain co-operation from both stakeholder groups and other technology teams
- Disciplined in development methodology and familiar with software development technologies and concepts. Practical experience with systems design and specifications for large scale applications.
- Knowledge and Experience in Retail Banking and Regulatory Reports
Working Conditions
Work in Hybrid environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Moderate travel internationally.
