 Purpose

Leads and oversees IB Digital Agile Delivery in International Banking ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Provides effective collaboration, facilitation, leadership, and supporting the development of our software platforms across IB for our Digital Programs. It will be responsible for leading the agile delivery practice and execution across the IB Digital portfolio, removing team impediments, promoting self-management, and continuously improving our work standards. They will serve as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams, and communicate with management, engineering teams, Directors, and VP+ across different lines of business and technology.

 

Accountabilities

  • Lead the delivery of IB Digital solutions: Leads coordination of multidisciplinary teams, from start to finish, to align release plans to business objectives. Facilitates delivery and release planning with an agile approach. Provide direction to the delivery team. define and deploy delivery and engineering productivity indicators; ensure that the engineering and delivery teams under your charge are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility.
  • Responsible of facilitating IB Digital program communication: Assists with internal and external communication, improves transparency, and disseminates information. Informs prioritization and facilitates conflict resolution. raise issues, risks and concerns for organizational effectiveness and risk management. Maintain open and constant communication with business lines, technology teams and management.
  • Support IB business teams: Is a strategic partner for business, product and design teams, guiding the definition of appropriate commitments based on business portfolio prioritization, product and technology vision, dependencies, constrains and technical possibilities, with client centricity and value orientation.
  • Guides the Way of Work and Delivery Standards for IB Digital: Proactively participates in the development and maintenance of team standards, tools, and best practices based on Way of Work across IB, taking a leadership role for the IB Digital portfolio. Drives relentless learning and continuous improvement.
  • Co-responsible, with a forum of enterprise leaders for the Software Delivery Practice, for promoting and maintaining the Enterprise Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Software Delivery Standards (SDS) with the goal of optimizing delivery processes, development time, and deployment frequency, while effectively meeting control objectives, and driving an agile vision of client centricity and accelerated learning.
  • Co-responsible, together with Engineering, Architecture, SRE and Product functions to: Deliver solutions that meet enterprise and local regulatory standards, policies and procedures, including security, privacy and reliability, working together with business, technology and support functions. Enable operational effectiveness of platforms delivered, including monitoring and observability, analytics, support, incident management effectiveness and response.
  • Leads and drives a Client Centric culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

Education / Experience / Other Information

  • Professional in Computer Engineering, Systems, or equivalent fields
  • 8+ years of experience in Software Delivery or Software Engineering Management
  • Experience leading leaders and coaching coaches
  • Proficient in Agile and DevOps principles, practices and behaviors
  • Experience leading high performance teams
  • Experience in facilitating Design Thinking and Lean Principles
  • Training and conducting workshops for new Agile Leads and Product Owners.
  • Scrum Master Certification or extensive equivalent experience
  • English and Spanish proficiency (B2 required, C1 desired)

 

Working Conditions

  • Works in a standard office environment; working overtime may be required. Hybrid role with on-site presence requirement.
  • Moderate international travel is required.
