Purpose of Job

Contributes to the overall success of the CCAU Technology, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The incumbent, under general direction, is responsible for the resolution of technical problems for the assigned Applications.  

Formulates and defines technical solutions and objectives based on both user needs and a good understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements for the assigned Applications.  

 

Reporting Relationships
Reports to:    Software Engineer Lead – Level 8
Direct Reports:    THIS IS AN INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTOR ROLE WITH NO DIRECT REPORTS

 

Major Accountabilities:
-    Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge

-    Participate in the full development life cycle of business solution design and implementation by analysis, and accurately and clearly defining user requirements, assisting in the development of test cases and conducting the tests, assisting in the definition of user procedures and workflows, assisting in the development of conversion and implementation strategies, and assisting in the provision of user documentation, user training, and post-implementation support.

-    Provide production and user acceptance testing support to assigned applications by identifying, evaluating, escalating, resolving problems and supporting other team members.

-    Provide business support to application users, including ad hoc queries and user training

-    Responsabilities may also include Tracking work assignments, status & reporting

-    Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

-    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML /ATF/sactions and conduct risk.

-    Might need to work on extended hours to meet customers need or production deployments

-    Champions a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.

-    Independently resolve multi-faceted problems to meet the technical needs of the assigned Applications, by applying their technological knowledge to the design of methodologies, models, and/or systems solutions.  This may involve rapid prototyping, with requirements and solutions developed on an iterative basis that provides interim deliverables until a final production solution is created.  This includes conducting research and analysis, accurately and clearly defining technical requirements and processes.

-    Participate in the systems implementation process by defining technical requirements and documentation, defining ETL process and workflows, developing, providing user documentation, Test Strategy, test cases, providing user training, and providing post-implementation support.

 

Education/Work Experience/Designations

-    Bachelor's degree in Engineering as computer science, computer engineering or related field required. 
-    1 - 3  years of experience in SQL required
-    Strong experience with structured and unstructured datasets, as well as solid skills with orchestration & ingestion/extraction of data. 
-    Experience with Reporting tools (Power BI / Cognos etc) 
-    Working knowledge of at least one or more programming languages (JavaScript, Java, .NET, Python, Perl, Python, PHP, BaSH, XML, HTML, C/C++/C#, RegEx, etc.) 
-    Experience working in an agile development environment (Confluence, Jira, CiAD pipeline, Scrum/Kanban).   
-    Must be Fully bilingual at least B1
-    Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
-    Serves as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs.
-    Nice to have: Knowledge of Big Data solutions, Hadoop, EDL, DWH, Data Visualization

The incumbent is responsible for the supporting the following:
- Definition of ETL Solutions
- Definition of Technical Requirements 
- Definition of documentation, test Strategy, test cases, user training
- Support in implementations and providing post-implementation support.
- Technical participation in small projects and/or participating in specific sections or medium projects
