Purpose
You will be part of the Resilience Analytics team that is part of Technology Internal Controls and Regulatory Management (ICRM) for Global Technology & Enterprise Platforms (GTEP) at Scotiabank. GTEP ICRM team plays an important role in the Bank’s Risk Governance Framework, providing First Line of Defense for GTEP and the Bank for all technology risk domains, including Cyber Security, Data Privacy, Software Currency, Disaster and Backup Recovery, Third Party Management, and Audit and Regulatory issue remediation.
Stable and resilient systems drive delivery of reliable business applications to our customers. The Resilience Analytics team’s mandate is to design metrics, gather data, analyse and provide insights to executives, execution teams, board representatives, and external regulators. Many of our projects involve the designing of new metrics and gathering of new data sources where creativity, and relationship building with possible sources is critical. We tell our story of resilience to a very senior audience and as such, a command of English is important as is the ability to analyze data and find insights. We work with process owners, technology owners, application owners, various risk, audit, and regulatory bodies across the globe.
Accountabilities
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- You can find the pattern in the chaos to recommend areas of continued study for risk mitigation that will improve technology stability.
- You will act as a business process transformation subject matter expert where there is a dependence on data gathering and consolidation from multiple business lines to understand Technology Service Performance and key areas of risk to system stability and resiliency.
- You will innovate to streamline and automate the processes within Resilience Analytics with an eye to the dimensions of data quality including timeliness, completeness, and consistency.
- You have an eye for technical design to help guide the engineering team in architecting data solutions involving ETL from data sources and streamlining presentation in dashboards.
- You will champion and promote processes that are designed to enhance data quality, and work collaboratively with stakeholders to design and implements improvements when gaps are identified.
- You enjoy interfacing & managing stakeholders and data contributors across multiple business unit and regional reporting processes while providing ongoing support and guidance to global process stakeholders and support teams.
- Paying strong attention to detail is your forte in providing quality daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting for various risk departments within the bank, and lines of businesses.
- You enjoy the “written word” and have a strong ability to frame documents for your audience.

Dimensions
Reporting to the Director, Resilience Data Analytics, the Data Analytics Solution Expert (DASE) will be a senior contributor to the overall success of the Technology Internal Controls and Regulatory Management for GTEP by ensuring goals, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. The DASE conducts all activities in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
The role will drive a data driven focus on technology resiliency across the enterprise. You will lead and be a key contributor to a few key core initiatives that will involve designing metrics, finding data points, working with engineering teams on solutions, and designing resulting dashboards. On a day-to-day basis, you’ll be reviewing current dashboards and data to provide insights into potential areas of risk for review and investment. You will also create presentations and reports for our risk committees and regulators.
You will champion this data driven approach through the development and publication of effective dashboards that measure Technology Service performance. You will also be key to organizational change management including communication, and the development / roll-out of training. A key deliverable will be required board and regulatory reporting on Technology Service performance.
Education / Experience / Other Information
- You have 5+ years in as a technical analyst or business analyst resource (or performing such roles) in a data analytics environment providing insights into data.
- You have at least 5+ years of progressive hands-on working experience in Business / System Analysis with a demonstrated focus on process design and organizational change management in an enterprise-sized technology environment.
- You bring at least 3+ years of working experience in IT Service Management (ITSM); spanning Service Requests, Incidents, Problems, Changes, Releases and the Configuration Management Databases (CMDB).
- You have a leadership understanding of technical data solutions (interfaces, Data connections, ETL, data visualization such as Power BI). You are familiar with Python.
- You have at least 3+ years of working experience in writing for and presenting to an executive level (VP+ audience) & can demonstrate the ability to synthesize quantitative & qualitative information and content for this audience. The same in Spanish is an asset.
- You have proven interpersonal and negotiation skills that allow you to build consensus and obtain co-operation from both support teams and senior management.
- You have 5+ years of experience developing, leading and coaching teams.
- You have completed a post-secondary education; You are also ITIL Foundations certified (versions 3 and/or 4); You are versed in business analysis, and technical areas of development as it relates to data analytics.
- Project Management or Risk Management experience or certifications is an asset.
- Organizational change management experience is an asset.
- Experience in facilitation and creating and running workshops is an asset.
