Purpose

The Team

Scotiabank’s Threat Monitoring & Response (TMR) team is responsible for monitoring, detecting and escalating identified threats. We are responsible for the coordination of key programs that impact all divisions within the Cybersecurity Operations (CSOps) organization and all of Information Security & Controls (IS&C).

 

The Role:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Triage & Monitoring the Cybersecurity Analyst is responsible for monitoring the for the bank’s security use-cases and triaging threats for severity and relevance. The Cybersecurity Analyst works with various business and technology teams to understand and assess potential threats for monitoring or response.

Dimensions

  • The incumbent will lead a team of 4 analysts and/or conduct reviews of IT application and supporting IT pervasive controls.
  • The incumbent will maintain documentation supporting Business
  • Day to day decisions regarding approaches to security and control reviews are handled independently by the incumbent using a high degree of discretion and judgment.
  • The incumbent is expected to lead their direct reports, ensuring assignments are completed within agreed targets and completion criterion.
  • The incumbent is guided by the Bank’s Information Security Policy and Standards and the requirements of Bank regulators and auditors as well as departmental procedures.
  • As a people leader, the incumbent is expected to manage the human resources component for their direct reports.

 

Education / Experience / Other Information

  • You possess advanced communication (verbal/written/presentation) skills in English. The same in Spanish is a strong asset.
  • You are familiar with working in large professional organizations
  • You have an understanding of basic computing, networking, and cybersecurity concepts.
  • You are curious about emerging threats and technologies and are interested in applying these to the business
  • You have experience involving red team (Vulnerability Assessments, Web app assessments), consulting (Compliance, policy creation), SOC and Device Management
  • You have built a security program to defend against APT
  • You have sized, deployed, maintained and hardened SIEM and NGFW solutions
  • You have spent a lot of time learning about the field of cybersecurity, perhaps getting practical hands-on experience at home using publicly-available CTFs and labs
  • Post-secondary education or a minimum of 3 years professional work experience.
  • Certifications (Sec+, CySA+, Net+, A+, CISSP Associate) are nice to have.
  • B1+ level of English

 

Working Conditions

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
