Purpose
The System Reliability Engineering team focuses on enhancing System Reliability, Reliability Engineering, and Resilience across Global Corporate Functions. The team's specific mandate includes Google Cloud Platform engineering and the onboarding of applications to cloud infrastructure.
The Cloud Site Reliability Engineer Associate is an entry-level role responsible for contributing to the reliability, scalability, and performance of applications and infrastructure within Google Cloud Platform. This position involves applying Site Reliability Engineering principles to support the development and operational lifecycle of services. The role will assist in building automation, developing and maintaining continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, and implementing observability solutions to monitor system health. The objective is to help ensure that services meet their availability and performance targets by proactively identifying and addressing potential issues. Working within the Global Corporate Functions SRE team, the associate will support the onboarding of new applications to the cloud and contribute to the continuous improvement of infrastructure as code and operational processes.
Accountabilities
• Contribute to the management of cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform using infrastructure as code practices with tools like Terraform.
• Assist in the development of automation scripts using Python to streamline operational tasks and improve system efficiency.
• Support the maintenance and enhancement of continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines to enable reliable software releases.
• Apply fundamental Site Reliability Engineering principles to help monitor Service Level Objectives and error budgets for managed services.
• Provide support for containerized applications running on Kubernetes, including basic troubleshooting and operational tasks.
• Assist in the configuration and troubleshooting of cloud networking components, such as virtual private clouds, subnets, and firewall rules, under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Help implement and manage security configurations and secrets management solutions in accordance with established security best practices.
• Participate in maintaining GitOps workflows for declarative continuous delivery using tools such as Argo CD or Flux.
• Contribute to the implementation of monitoring and alerting solutions to ensure system observability and proactive issue detection as part of a DevOps-oriented team.
• Develop and maintain clear technical documentation for operational procedures, system configurations, and automation scripts.
Education / Experience / Other Information
• Completion of a post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience within the financial services or a similarly regulated industry is required.
• Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering and DevOps principles, including infrastructure as code, continuous integration/delivery, and observability.
• Familiarity with technology risk management and compliance concepts within a corporate environment.
• Demonstrated experience with at least one programming or scripting language, preferably Terraform, or Python
• Foundational knowledge of public cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies like Kubernetes and version control systems like Git.
