Purpose

Accountabilities 

•    Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge. 
•    Developing, automating, and maintaining scripts and tools using bash, Python, SQL, GCP and other relevant technologies.  
•    Debugging, testing, and validating scripts to ensure quality and accuracy of results. 
•    Identifying, analyzing, and solving technical issues related to data processing, storage, and retrieval. 
•    Providing daily support to the operation by monitoring and troubleshooting system issues and ensuring data integrity and accuracy. 
•    Performing data analysis, generating reports and insights, and presenting findings to stakeholders. 
•    Identifying opportunities for process improvement, proposing, and implementing solutions to increase efficiency and productivity. 
•    Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including software engineers and business stakeholders, to ensure alignment on project goals and priorities. 
•    Staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in data analytics and automation to continuously improve processes and capabilities.  
•    Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions 
•    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)

•    The person must have at least 3 or more years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, Data Engineer, or a related technical role in the financial industry
•    Experience in developing, maintaining, and improving automated scripts using bash, Python, SQL, and other relevant technologies
•    Experience in performing regression testing for software releases and analyzing data to identify trends, patterns, and insights (Nice to have).
•    Desirable experience working with GCP or other cloud platforms (Nice to have).
