Purpose

Contribute to the overall success of Global Corporate Functions (GCF) – Compliance Engineering by executing and delivering individual goals, plans, and initiatives that support the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations and internal policies and procedures.

Accountability 

•    Build and maintain strong working relationships with business and technology partners.
•    Provide ongoing technical support, including system integration, patching, and feed monitoring.
•    Support production and user acceptance testing (UAT) for assigned applications by identifying, assessing, escalating, and resolving issues, and by supporting other team members as needed.
•    Coordinate with vendors to ensure critical fixes are deployed in a timely manner.
•    Liaise with upstream and downstream system owners to understand data formats, semantic content, and end-to-end processes.
•    Serve as the technology support point of contact for the applicable system for Global GBM&T Compliance business owner(s) and users.
•    Ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on time by:

• • Participating in the development of implementation strategies.
  • Creating procedural documentation to support users (e.g., guidelines, job aids).

•    Consider the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture in day-to-day activities and decisions.
•    Promote effective and efficient operations in alignment with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, and maintain effective day-to-day business controls to meet obligations related to operational risk, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
•    Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment. 

Education / Experience / Other Information 

• Strong analytical and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to solve technical problems, improve processes, and understand complex requirements.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into clear, actionable input for technical teams.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong time-management, prioritization, and ownership skills.
• Solid understanding of current IT practices and systems development techniques, particularly requirements specification and testing methodologies; stays current with rapidly changing technology.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, SQL, Python, and Postman.
• 1--3 years of experience as a Technical Business Analyst within a financial services institution; experience supporting regulatory and compliance initiatives is preferred.
• Knowledge of financial instruments in at least one market area (e.g., equities or fixed income) and related derivatives (e.g., options, credit default swaps/total return swaps, futures) is an asset. (basic undestanding)
• Recognized undergraduate degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

Working Conditions

• Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence
