Purpose

Detail-oriented and business-driven Business Analyst with a strong background in data discovery, cross-functional collaboration, and analytical reporting. Proven ability to bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions by translating complex requirements into actionable insights. Skilled in identifying data-driven opportunities, enhancing business processes, and enabling informed decision-making across organizational levels.

Experienced in working with SMEs, data engineers, and stakeholders across diverse domains, with a solid foundation in data analytics, process optimization, and modern reporting tools. Adept at managing end-to-end analysis workflows in Agile and hybrid environments, with a strong focus on accuracy, clarity, and delivery impact.  

 

Accountabilities

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Data Discovery
    • Identify and document data sources, flows, and gaps relevant to business initiatives.
    • Collaborate with data engineering teams to understand infrastructure, schemas, and data lineage.
    • Conduct stakeholder interviews to uncover analytical needs and use cases.
  • SME Collaboration
    • Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) across business lines to gather functional requirements.
    • Facilitate cross-functional workshops to ensure shared understanding and alignment of goals.
    • Translate business needs into clear, actionable technical specifications.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting
    • Analyze structured and unstructured data to derive insights and support decision-making.
    • Build and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and ad hoc reports to track KPIs and business performance.
    • Validate data accuracy and integrity across systems and reports.
    • Process Improvement
    • Assess current-state business processes and recommend improvements leveraging data insights.
    • Support the development of automated reporting workflows and streamlined intake models.
    • Track process enhancement outcomes and generate value-based reporting for stakeholders.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be incorporate into in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Other Information

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related field.
    • A Master’s degree is considered an asset.
  • Experience
    • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in data-centric or analytics-driven environments.
    • Prior experience working with cross-functional teams in Agile or hybrid delivery models.
    • Exposure to financial services, banking, or regulated industries preferred.
  • Technical Skills
    • Proficiency in Excel, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
    • Familiarity with data mapping, process modeling (BPMN, Visio), and documentation tools (Confluence, JIRA).
    • Understanding of data governance, metadata, and quality frameworks.
  • Soft Skills
    • Strong leadership, stakeholder communication, and problem-solving abilities. Candidates must demonstrate adaptability and a growth mindset

 

Working Conditions

Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
