Position: Analyst, Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Management, Global Procurement Services / Global Operations

 

Purpose

The Analyst is responsible for managing Bank-wide supplier activities within the assigned category portfolio, offering a comprehensive view of enterprise third-party relationships across multiple business lines and geographic regions. This includes supporting the sourcing and evaluation of suppliers, negotiating contracts, preparing recommendations for decision-makers, and facilitating the risk management process. The role plays a critical part in analyzing key supplier relationships to maximize value and foster collaborative data on performance, financial health, contract compliance, innovation, and overall relationship quality-across internal stakeholders (including Global Procurement Services, Business Lines, and Third-Party Risk Management) and external partners. Sitting within the Strategic Sourcing team, the Analyst contributes to the development of supplier strategies aligned with category and business objectives and provides data-driven insights to inform collective strategies, innovation agendas, and performance improvements. Accountabilities

 

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Aggregate reporting and analyzing supplier spend, contract and performance across business lines and providing insights to cost management and contractual commitment opportunities.
  • Support the scheduling of supplier relationship management meetings (ensuring all the internal and external stakeholders are included), including documenting meeting minutes and action items are captured and track to closure.
  • Support the creation and aggregation of supplier scorecard information as it pertains to the Bank’s external supplier relationships, and enterprise-wide coordination of supplier relationship activities across Business Lines and Functions.
  • Support the creation of the supplier 360-degree view by understanding how the supplier performs across different product / service areas within the Bank aggregate information and share insights with stakeholders (i.e. GPS Category /Sourcing Managers).
  • Prepare decks and presentations for relationship meetings, provide key supplier metrics for reporting to Enterprise Third Party Management Program Team.
  • Support the coordination of tracking and closing of supplier issue and incidents that are escalated, ensuring all key stakeholders are engaged and informed.
  • Work closely with the Supplier Management relationship led to coordinate and support the Business Line, Strategic Sourcing, Enterprise Third Party Management Program Team, and other stakeholders.
  • Works closely with Enterprise Third Party Management Program Team to implement and execute on created tools / templates / policies and develops capabilities across Scotia Supplier Management community (share best practices).
  • Collaborates with strategic supplier managers/strategic sourcing managers and the GPS business partners to ensure ONEGPS support and delivery to our business partners across the Bank.
  • Supports sourcing and category analysis as required. 
  • Supports the development of supplier strategies and contracts. Enhances supplier relationships by developing and continually improving upon post-award supplier processes. 
  • Supports Strategic Sourcing team to manage the supplier strategy across Scotiabank and commercial relationship with the supplier.
  • Develops and drives supplier scorecards and ongoing supplier performance improvement working with supply base. Own and maintain key inputs required for enterprise-wide reporting and analysis for key reports and decisions. 
  • Liaise with procurement partners to review, report on, and revise contractual agreements, supplier and category strategies as necessary. 
  • Develops working knowledge of the third-party risk management process and requirements across the key risk categories that impact third parties.
  • Liaise with the business contract/risk owners to provide support in the management of all aspects of third-party risk, including ongoing monitoring activities (the business/contract owner owns the risk).
  • Identify ways to expand or improve the operational relationship with a supplier to better accommodate the Bank’s needs. Identifies process improvement opportunities to drive better quality and delivery performance. Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Support development and implementation of relevant policies, standard, frameworks and requirements relating to third party risk management.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

  • Able to support the Supplier Management relationship lead in managing enterprise Suppliers, including cross-business lines, cross-geography, and maintain parent-child relationships
  • Able to report on the key metrics of the supplier relationship, leveraging standardize process and tools
  • Able to provide analyse contract and performance data to deliver insights on the supplier relationship
  • Foundational understanding of third-party risk management quantification and methodologies
  • Provide support in conflict and issues resolution and escalation management
  • Understanding and coordinate with the Business Line, Strategic Sourcing, and the GPS Supplier Management Team
  • Understand the wider objectives of procurement and supplier management practices, such as business and strategic goals alignment.
  • Excellent analytical and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple priorities, adapt to constantly changing business environment and drive projects to completion.
  • Knowledge in financial services and regulations (e.g., OSFI, OCC, CFPB, UDAAP) and how they are applied to Third Party relationships is preferred.
  • Develop strong and trusting working relations through communication, listening, influencing and managing change internally and externally.

 

 

 


Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)

  • 1-2 years’ experience in Supplier relationship management, financial services, or procurement related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in management, business, or related field; master (MA or MSc) in business or related field preferred.
  • University degree and postgraduate qualifications, or equivalent combination of education and Supplier management experience.
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to build sustainable, transparent relationships / partnerships
  • Extensive experience managing and coordinating internal and external stakeholder groups for proven service delivery.
