Purpose  


Contributes to the overall success of the Payment Operations function in Procurement, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures and ensures the payments best practices are incorporated into the management of payments, use of supporting technology, and management of operational risk.

 

Accountabilities


•    Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
•    Works in collaboration with other team members to ensure Payments Oversight activities aligned to operating procedures are being performed in a timely and accurate manner
•    Reviews and makes recommendations to improve operating procedures for Payments Execution and Oversight
•    Supports Manager/Sr. Analyst on escalation of Payments Oversight issues.
•    Interacts with payments accounting processing team in Global Business Services campus (Bogota, Colombia)
•    Manages the cheque run printing operation and distribution
•    Performs the Accounts Payable Function for Roynat
•    Captures data points that contributes to the reporting of operations SLAs / KPIs / KRIs
•    Attends / conducts cross-training for Payments staff
•    Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
•    Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. 
•    Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behavior’s; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.

 

Dimensions  


•    Regular interaction with Procurement and Payment personnel in Toronto, Canada
•    Regular interaction with Procurement and Payment personnel in Bogota, Colombia
•    Subject to SOX reporting accountabilities for controls documentation and audit support
•    Supports all business units in Canada

  
Education / Experience / Other Information 


•    Minimum 1-2 years of experience in financial industry or in Finance department of public corporations
•    Excellent knowledge of PeopleSoft AP, SharePoint and MS Office (Power BI, Excel advanced)
•    Experience with Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps), or similar AI/automation tools. Designing and managing AI agents in Microsoft Copilot. (Nice to have)
•    Excellent customer service and communication skills
•    Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with a team
•    Ability to listen, understand and handle employee payment inquiries, problems, or escalations
•    Excellent organizational and analytical skills
•    Good problem-solving and time management skills
•    Excellent flexibility and change management skills
•    Demonstrates interest to learn
•    English level B2
  
Working Conditions  


•    Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
