Purpose
Leads and oversees Subsidiary Accounting in Canada from Finance Services Unit ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. As part of the management team, the Accounting Supervisor handles his/her team in resolving conflicts, delegating and organizing tasks, as well as motivating and leading teams during project developments. Also participate in special projects. Other tasks of supervisor include monitoring financial position, taxation, financial performance and cash flows of the subsidiaries; reviewing any discrepancies of reports and guarantee the reasonableness of accounting information under the scope of the Accounting Team in Bogotá.
Accountabilities
- Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Focus on managing staff, providing training and supporting the team to solve issues and challenges.
- Attend the month-end, quarter-end or year-end meetings with the COE team.
- Respond to accounting inquiries from Tax Team in a timely fashion
- Deliver quality reporting required by different teams with time frames.
- Perform financial analysis and reporting to Management as needed.
- Accounts analysis – perform analysis over Balance Sheet and P&L accounts.
- Perform Monthly, Quarter and Annual closing /Journal Entries/reconciliation process and the corresponding variance analysis.
- Coordinate with Finance Team to complete assigned accounting tasks within deadlines.
- Generate financial reports and statements to Managers for review.
- Analyze financial discrepancies and recommend effective resolutions.
- Respond to accounting inquiries from Audit in a timely fashion.
- Provide guidance to other Accountants when needed.
- Assist in auditing activities by providing necessary information and preparing requested documentations.
- Monitor and record financial transactions according to company policies and regulations.
- Review and recommend changes or improvements to existing accounting procedures.
- Attend meetings as required to organize procedures and / or respond HDQ’s different requests
- Attend trainings in different Financial topics
- Prepare a select number of entries requiring sophisticated reconciliations
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Education / Experience / Other Information
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in general or tax accounting (Big four companies).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and ability to understand financial statements, their components and disclosure requirements (IFRS).
- Experience with computerized ledger systems.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to function well in a team-oriented environment.
