Purpose


Contributes to the overall success of the AML Quality Assurance, Global Testing in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Responsible for executing planned testing activities to assess the adequacy, adherence, and effectiveness of controls across Canadian Banking and Global Operations.

The individual contributes to the overall success of the Global Testing team by completing regular, ad-hoc,
and/or focused reviews as necessary, as well as other testing duties and projects as assigned.

The individual maintains a high level of expertise and knowledge related to enterprise policies and procedures
as well as legislative requirements in order to effectively assess controls.


Accountabilities 

 

•    Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

•    Performs ad-hoc, special, and/or focused reviews as necessary, as well as other testing duties and task as assigned, concisely and accurately reports results from testing activities, independently executes planned testing activities.

•    Develops and maintains a strong knowledge related to AML operations, policies and procedures across Canadian and International Banking.

•    Develops and maintains a strong knowledge related to regulatory requirements in Canada and other jurisdictions (as required).

•    Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

•    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

•    Scope of coverage requires access and training on multiple onboarding systems
•    Scope of coverage requires extensive familiarity with policies and procedures across several distinct business units 


Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)

•    3+ years of experience in an operational or compliance role in the financial services industry;
•    Post-secondary education in Administrative, financial o related fields (not students)
•    Demonstrated exceptional ability to be detail-oriented with strong analytical thinking;
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
•    Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, challenging and dynamic business environment;
•    Superior interpersonal skills, leadership and influential capabilities;
•    Self-motivated; work both independently and collaboratively with multi-functional teams;

                                        
Working Conditions


•    Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
