Leads and oversees the Prime Leases Collections department at the Dealer Center of Excellence in Canada ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Lead and develop the Recoveries and Collections teams by: authorizing, within delegated authority limits, and activities that will expeditiously protect the Bank’s interests and result in optimum recovery ratios; ensuring that staff are well organized, sufficiently trained/cross-trained to perform their responsibilities, developed to their potential and deployed in a manner that permits a cost-effective operation; monitoring random work performed by direct reports and team members, including the review of any escalations, along with requests and recommendations.
- Supports business plans, and business objectives for the department by: developing direct Reports and entire team to accomplish strategic growth objectives; works with talent acquisition to recruit, select and hire the talent needed to meet the department’s goals; establishing metrics for the department(s) along with the Vice President, Dealer Center of Excellence, ensuring all team members clearly understand the metrics, and what is expected of them; Conduct Leadership Resource Planning meetings to ensure there is a healthy pool of employees being developed for Manager and Repossession Enforcement Officer; ensuring all department process flows, policies, procedures and supporting documents are updated as required and that the most current approved versions are on the Prime Leases Collections Document Repository.
- Recommends and monitors stretch goals and provides leadership, management, coaching and mentoring to Direct Reports and extended team members by: evaluating the performance of Direct Reports and extended team members, providing timely feedback on performance and taking remedial action where required; recruiting new management staff and identifying training and development requirements for team members across department(s), in cooperation with available training resources.
- Contributes to the reduction of Portfolio losses by: providing Litigation recommendations to Management on active and charged off accounts; communicating professionally with all external Lawyers by collecting and providing all documentation necessary to obtain Litigation judgment; conducting payment collection activity to provide the Bank with optimal loan loss and recovery dollars.
- Maintains adequate tracking, documentation of files and administrative tasks by managing a high volume of legal requests with great accuracy and organization; compiling information related to cases, as requested by the internal and external legal teams.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
- Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
- Conducts payment collection activity to provide the Bank with optimal delinquency ratios and loan loss levels by: acting in a timely manner to identify the risk associated with all assigned accounts and executing prompt action to minimize loss and secure the Bank’s position; conducting timely and constructive collection activity by telephone, letter, text message, e-mail, or other appropriate means.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if:
- Completion of a post-secondary education (college or university) preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; the ability to prioritize, allocate and monitor workload; using sound judgment to address problems and discrepancies.
- 5+ years of previous experience in Recoveries/Collections/Vendor Management and 3-5 years in Management.
- Proven interpersonal and communications skills to successfully conduct operational activities, and influence others to become operationally effective.
- A high degree of flexibility is required to adapt to a variety of tasks and functions.
- Strong PC skills are necessary as the incumbent uses a PC for a variety of operational, service management and related activities.
- Thorough knowledge of daily and periodic department routines, procedures, policies and workflows is preferred.
In addition to French, the successful candidate must also have sufficient knowledge of English, as the work involves interacting and collaborating regularly with groups and individuals based in Toronto, as well as constantly interacting with other people, including clients, who speak English, locally and elsewhere.
