The team:
Scotiabank’s Global Technology Enterprise Platforms (GTEP) - Operations and Engineering - Tools & Monitoring - Global Event Management System (GEMS) team is responsible for monitoring the availability & health of IT hardware, software, and network resources. GEMS automates the analysis of events, generates alerts, helps determine root cause and assigns Alerts to the correct resource groups to restore affected services.
The role:
You are accountable for the configuration, customization, and administration of the enterprise event‑management and automation platform. Your primary focus is to ensure effective utilization of platform modules and toolsets that streamline IT operations, enhance user experience, and improve workflow efficiency.
You will play a key role in promoting automated remediation solutions across the organization. Your ability to clearly articulate their value to both technical and non-technical audiences will be essential in driving adoption and maximizing impact.
In this role, as required, you can expect to provide extended support (after hours & 24x7) for engagement in real-time troubleshooting and resolution of Priority 1/Major Incidents.

- You are an Automation Engineer with a strong sense of initiative and ownership.
- You excel at designing and implementing automated workflows, business rules, and orchestration logic.
- You explore new tools, integrations, and use cases that enhance automation solutions.
- You maintain the health and performance of enterprise monitoring and automation platforms.
- You support assigned application modules and evaluate complex problems.
- You provide training to end users on platform functionalities.
- You develop dashboards and reports to support IT service performance.
- You maintain documentation of configurations and processes.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
- Fully proficient in English and Spanish.
- Strong communication skills.
- Hands‑on experience administering enterprise monitoring, automation, or orchestration platforms.
- Knowledge of IT Operations Management (ITOM) is an asset.
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible or Windows Orchestrator.
- Ability to build integrations using RESTful APIs.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as JavaScript, PowerShell, or Python.
- Experience collaborating with technical teams.
- Experience using dashboards and KPIs to evaluate automation workflows.
