What you will be doing:

The Senior Manager, Small Business Deposit Performance is responsible for driving portfolio performance across Tangerine’s Small Business book through disciplined pricing, forecasting and advanced analytics. The role partners closely with Product, Finance and Treasury to identify, quantify and executive on P&L levers that optimize growth, margin and Client Mix.


As a key contributor to the Small Business Strategy, the role brings a forward-looking, data driven lens to decision-making – translating market dynamics, client behaviour and funding economics into actionable strategies. The mandate spans to-to-end performance managing, including pricing strategy, scenario modelling, and executive level insights to support key forums (ex, TNGR ALCO).

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will be:

  • Pricing Strategy
    • Develop and recommend pricing strategies across savings and term products aligned to portfolio objectives; evaluate trade-offs between volume, margin and client quality to inform pricing posture
    • Support execution of targeted offers, bundled packages, campaigns and rate changes with clear performance expectations

  • Forecasting and Scenario Analytics
    • Interpret client behavior, macro-economic trends and flows to conduct scenario analyses and inform business decisions that support strategic growth and positive contributions to product P&Ls.
    • Provide clear, forward-looking guidance to Senior Executives to inform strategic trade-offs, considerations and decision-making
    • Lead for establishing the financial plan for Small Business, including balance, margin and OpEx forecasting in close collaboration with the Small Business Leadership Team.

  • P&L Optimization and Performance Management
    • Identify and quantify key P&L levers, including pricing, mix, acquisition and retention dynamics
    • Monitor portfolio performance and recommend actions to optimize outcomes
    • Partner with Finance, Treasury and Product Management to establish, manage and measure FTP frameworks that support quality balance growth; create an integrated system of benchmarks to evaluate performance against portfolio objectives
    • Establish OpEx reporting to track and measure costs, providing strategic to improve cost to serve while maintaining a first class Client experience

  • Analytics, Insights and Decision Support
    • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders
    • Develop performance narratives that connect client behaviour, market trends, and finance outcomes

  • Strategic Thought Leadership and Executive Advisory 
    • Advise executives on key product and portfolio decisions, combining analytics, market insight and industry perspective
    • Proactively bring forward data-backed ideas and strategic options to optimize growth, margin and mix

  • People Leadership

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • University or College Degree – MBA preferred
  • 7-10 years of progressive analytics experience
  • Expert understanding of key P&L levers, including funds transfer pricing, costing etc.
  • Subject Matter expertise of Canadian Small Business and Retail Banking landscape
  • Experience with advanced analytics tools (SAS, SQL etc.) along with MS Excel –including excel regression functions, experience with GCP/ Big query is a plus
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills; excellent communicative ability to frame results of analyses
  • Ability to synthesis complex information clearly and simply to a broad audience- excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Comfort and confidence adapting to new tools and ways of working
