What you will be doing:
As the Senior Manager, AI & Data Science, you will report to the Director and Head of Tangerine Analytics, and partner closely with business leaders across the bank. You will be responsible for advancing Tangerine’s predictive, prescriptive, and cognitive analytics capabilities. This role will focus on forecasting business outcomes, optimizing customer targeting and treatment strategies, and embedding advanced modelling capabilities within Tangerine’s agentic AI framework.
You will lead the design and implementation of Next-Best-Action capabilities, including the full suite of predictive models and optimization engines. They will also drive the transformation of Tangerine’s Data Science practice toward an agentic, automated workflow, enabling faster insights, scalable experimentation, and intelligent decisioning across the enterprise.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Accelerate Tangerine’s Campaign Optimization strategy by partnering across Product, Digital, CRM, and Channel teams to design intelligent targeting, treatment, and measurement frameworks. Leverages advanced modelling and experimentation to drive customer acquisition, growth, engagement, and retention at scale.
- Embed predictive, prescriptive, and cognitive models into Tangerine’s agentic AI workflows, enabling automated insight generation, real‑time decisioning, and faster speed‑to‑market. Ensures models are production‑ready, rigorously monitored, and continuously improved.
- Lead the development of high‑impact business cases – including opportunity sizing, scenario modelling, and value realization plans – to secure investment, prioritize innovation, and influence strategic decisions across the enterprise. Strengthens partnerships with senior business stakeholders through clear storytelling and outcome‑focused recommendations.
- Establish recurring forums and operating rhythms to review forecasts, model insights, campaign results, and optimization opportunities. Fosters cross‑functional alignment and deepens organizational understanding of value drivers, assumptions, and performance levers.
- Ensure excellence in risk management and operational controls, embedding Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, Global Sales Principles, and enterprise risk standards – including operational risk, data governance, AML/ATF, sanctions, and conduct risk – into all modelling workflows, analytical processes, and team operations.
- Build and lead a high‑performing AI & Data Science team, fostering a culture of innovation, curiosity, and continuous learning. Champions an inclusive environment, applies a coaching‑first leadership approach, and drives talent development, career mobility, and succession planning. Aligns team efforts to Tangerine’s strategic priorities and elevates the overall analytics craft.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
- University Degree in Mathematics or Statistics
- 5-8 years of leading AI/ML teams in financial industry
- Experience with advanced analytics tools (Python, Big-Query, Vertex AI) – including predictive modelling; experience with GCP/ Big query is a plus
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills; excellent communicative ability to frame results of analyses
- Ability to thrive in an ultra-fast paced environment; adaptable and flexible when responding to deadlines
- Ability to synthesis complex information clearly and simply to a broad audience- excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking capacity Experience winning business case approval and following through to successful implementation
- Thorough understanding of deposit product, key success factors and the regulatory environment surrounding them
